OU @ O-State

Jamal saved the season!

Yes Manek needs to quit drifting and or fading on his shot. Squared up and jumping straight up he is deadly.
CJ has to hit open shots!

I was wrong about Freeman he never saw the court

It may seem like an obvious adjustment in hindsight, but kudos to the coaching staff for changing our defensive plan in the second half. They had the guards really pressure OSU on the perimeter and made it much more difficult for them to get space to shoot threes. In his radio interview after the game, Kruger specifically credited Calixte for doing a nice job applying ball pressure and disrupting what OSU wanted to do. There is clearly a risk with that strategy if the other team handles it well and is able to get easy baskets, but after they torched us in the first half from deep, it was definitely the right move.

I have not posted here is a long time, but the last 8 minutes of the game were great. I love to see intense defense with pressure on the ball. The TO's came and OSU gradually gave up.

We must start games with more pressure. If some one gets a couple of fouls so... what we depth. You can not let Lindy Waters go off early. The consistent pressure in the 2nd half brought the Pokes FG% down drastically.

I am very proud of the D

Manek is in such a hurry to get his shot off sometimes, he doesn’t have time to square up.

CJ’s problem is eerily similar. He’s not going up with his shoulders square to the basket anymore. For some reason he went back to a flaw he developed two years ago in jumping sideways, making it impossible to align his upper body with his target. It’s not on every shot, but it continues to get worse. He wasn’t doing that before he went into the slump he’s in now.

Unfortunately, I think James is just a below average three-point shooter for a college shooting guard. Take away his freshman year when he shot a high percentage on limited attempts, and he has been between 33 and 36.5% the rest of his career. He gets on occasional hot stretches, usually in the first month of the season, and then comes back to earth for the rest of the way. His percentage this season is actually lower than the team's overall percentage, which is saying something because this is not a great three-point shooting team.

Having said that, credit to him for improving his overall game this season, especially his rebounding. He is also a little better at finishing around the rim, though like all our players, he could stand to be better in that area. We need more dunks/strong finishes rather than putting up finesse shots underneath.

Great win. It would have been easy to quit after that red hot start from OSU and say "it's just not our night." Got back into it with great defense, didn't try to get the whole thing back in 5 minutes, and grinded away a nice victory.

We've also got a lot to be excited about moving forward. A starting lineup of Bienemy, Harmon, Reaves, Manek and Doo is a lot to like.

That seems like a lineup that could be like K-State this year. Lots of experience and every one can shoot the 3.

I know it was mentioned...but a piece was JM...he actually played much better.

OU's lead in Bedlam goes back to 40 games (139-99). I wonder how many people realize that. Even my mom, who's pretty astute as an OU grad and sports fan, didn't realize the series lead was so big.

It's not quite like football, which OU leads by about 70 games, but OU would have to get swept every year between now and 2039 to get the series tied.

And for all the fuss the announcers made about Bedlam last night (they mentioned, for example, that oshwo won the "overall" Bedlam series the past five years), I don't think they mentioned our sizable lead in basketball -- if they did, I missed it.

Much of the time I thought they were grading on a curve in discussing oswho, much as the Oklahoma media has always done.

This rivalry, for whatever reason, just hasn't been the same since the Kelvin-Eddie head-to-head years. Perhaps it was because both schools were making the Dance pretty much every year. Also, both schools were getting their fair share of big victories over the other (though none bigger than OU winning in Stillwater on Desmond Mason and Doug Gottlieb's Senior Day). That rivalry really was special.

They definitely did. They showed the overall record between the 2. It might have been at the very beginning of the broadcast.

Just watched the replay. Glad to see McNeace play well. Odomes played really well, Manek & Doolittle were solid. Bienemy looked amazing. If James & Reynolds don't score and OU wins on the road I'll take it.

This would've been the type of game OU loses last year, much guttier team.

Not disagreeing with anyone's take on the coverage, but it was obvious (to me) that Fran was pulling for the Sooners to win. He got pretty vocal about at least a couple of obvious fouls the aggies committed that were mysteriously not called, and at least one questionable foul call on OU (Muni).

I'll never understand all the angst about announcers. Near as I can tell, every fan base is convinced that every brodcaster hates their team and/or is incompetent. There are very few who actually fit into either category. As for Fran, KU fans despise him because they think he cheers against them. OU fans think he goes overboard to avoid coming across as biased. I think he does a good job and have never once felt he is being unfair to OU.

The other thing about announcers is that it is very easy to hit the mute button. I do that frequently, not because I dislike the crew, but because I somehow get even more nervous when I have the sound on.

If any of you want to hear a truly awful, biased announcer, listen to Mark Adams call a game on ESPN. He does the AAC and some smaller leagues, and he openly roots for non-power conference teams. He also thinks every player is the second coming of Michael Jordan.

Fans definitely hate every announcer. Fran is an excellent color commentator, one of the best ESPN has.

If you think announcers are bad, watch some of the small school broadcasts on ESPN+, and you'll get an appreciation for how good the guys on the top crews are.

I like fran and I even like doug. I always thought fran gave us more than a fair shake. now some of the CBS guys not so much.
