So who the HELL is he suppose to be recruiting? You guys know everything... If he goes after the big fish, you say we wont get them... He goes after the no star recruit... He isnt good enough...

So should he just say screw it... im getting fired, the hell with recruiting...

He is trying. he's got the McD's guys before... (we all know the end result) but he did pull them to Ok...

What do you guys suggest?

IMO we don't need to bring in anyone else for 2011 unless we REALLY believe he is an impact guy. We don't need to use a scholarship on another "project"; we just need to keep that scholarship in our pocket for 2012.

I dont want him throwing schollies at kids that suck... If he can get a pg that can play for us or a big that can play... then do it... if not save the ships...

yeah I am with B O B, try for shorter guys, don't go for the big star recruits, Oklahoma basketball is dead lets just keep it at that and kill off the program. Who wants to get big star recruits coming to Oklahoma, we only want 1 star or half a star players or maybe just don't use any scholarships just keep saving them til they are all back and we don't have anyone to play.

At this point Brim, it doesn't matter to many around here what he does... Its no different than the faction who wanted KS gone. It didn't matter what he tried, they complained. Some were the same guys fawning over Capel when he signed the Mickey D's guys a few yrs ago.

He is working trying to land some guys that can help the team Sooner and later. Can't fault him for that. I remember people saying KS would never land any big time recruits, and he went and got several, but unfortunately we lost them all because of the phone calls......

You best believe that if we somehow pull out a few conference wins, then everyone who has joined the Capel lynchmob will be saying stuff like: He rode the back of Blake to get those surprise wins, well we still didn't get into the tourney, etc.... blah, blah, blah.:facepalm

That is my only agenda in my posts. If i have been wrong for the last month and we finish higher than 11th, i will be happy as hell

4-8 wins in conference and you will be happy? I expect about the same but will will never be happy with 4-8 conference wins. OU will have the same problems next year because OU doesn't have the talent to be competitive next year in the big 12.

I received confirmation from Cezar Guerrero, the 5'11 point guard from St. John Bosco High School in Belmont Shores California, that Coach Capel will indeed be at his game today versus Mater Dei High School. We'll try to stay on top of any movements in recruiting as we feel it will pick up tremendously over the next months.

At the end of the day, JC knows he needs to have a winning team next year or he will be canned. Building for next year trumps building for 4 years down the road, if he wants to be here.

Next year will be the battle of his life. We should have a better team than this year, but not so good that success is guaranteed. They will have to scrap and claw, and hopefully squeeze into the tournament, or JC will be packing bags.

I don't like to add too much of my personal opinion to issues like this, but I don't have a problem with Coach Capel going to Wichita to recruit 2012 prospect Perry Ellis. It's only a tank of gas and as long as a kid states that he's interested in your program, you can't not recruit him.

There is definetely more activity in recruiting than earlier this year. We're going to be looking at the juco ranks to identify anyone that the coaching staff may be recruiting. Indications are that the staff will be looking for three positions. A point guard, either a scoring combo guards and scoring wings, and another center. Two of these positions may come from the juco ranks, but I feel the pg will come from the high school ranks. PGs like Cezar Guerrero and Eli Carter may give the Sooners insurance on 2012 if they're not able to land one of the many pgs that they're targeting. Expect Carter to make moves around or after signing day in the spring. I doubt he commits earlier than that.

I expect 2 so this year i will be happy with 4-8. I never thought I would have to say those words but that is where we are at this point in time as a program
