OU Softball

This is true. What if:
1. Parsons is not called out before Chamberlain's double in the third? It would result in a run scored with Turang and Chamberlain on second and third with one out for Casey.
2. We loaded the bases and hit into a force play at home.
3. Martinez lined out to third with runners on second and third, great catch.
4. Any others?

Shelby get a hit??? I feel terrible for her! But this is her first WCWS and pressure has pretty much wrecked her!

I don't think the players will be at all tired tomorrow night. We may see the eleventh and twelfth innings from the start. This team should never play not to lose. It just isn't their style, what makes them good. They should come out ready to devour Tennessee. The Vols have to be in a state of shock right now.

Lauren is only the second player to have thirty home runs twice. She is only thirty home runs away from the record.

The amazing stat of the game. How did Tenn coaches pitch to her???

At least, Shelby did get a ground ball tonight. If they pitch Ivy, Shelby might hit two home runs.

The pitch that she hit out was a pitch they had gotten her out on. I think their intent was to pitch around her. If she wanted to swing at a pitch she couldn't hit---fine. But, she hit it. She had popped out on that pitch. But, the first pitch was pretty far outside. They just didn't get the same result.

I think at the end of the top of the eleventh, Gasso was wondering why she hadn't sent Turang home on Lauren's double.

All I can say is that for HOF coaches, the Weeklys had a major brain-fart pitching to Lauren with an open base...

I'm glad, though...

I think that you're right.... Gasso had to be second-guessing herself.

Keilani K'd Raven Chavanne FOUR times tonight. Chavanne had never struck out in her career as many as 3 times in a game, I think I heard the announcers say....

I think they said she had only struck out eight times this year.

That's why Keilani is likely to start.

Wasn't I the player who was picked off who hit the three-run home run?

I see that Raven Chavanne, one of the two runners-up to Keilani for national POY, was zero for six with four K's.

Sooner Magic! A softball textbook could be written on this game tonight. I just wish Patty would have let Brianna run home - Brianna is very fast and had a full head of steam rounding third.

Yep, it would have taken a perfect throw and tag to get her. I think Turang had a great chance if scoring.

What a great effort by the girls. They made it a lot of fun to be an OU fan. To beat anyone at anything, you have to 1st believe that you can beat them. I'm pretty sure that the Tennessee girls woke up this morning thinking that they can not beat Oklahoma.

I don't know who OU or Tenn will pitch tonight. That will have a lot to do with how well the hitters perform. Ellen Renfroe is really good. Not sure her sister will be as effective if they go with her.

If Rickets can go again tonight, I expect her to highly effective again.

We have talked about that regardless the sport you have to have a number of elite players to win a championship. Patty certainly has her share. I would say the following are clearly elite players:

Rickets
Chamberlain
Turang
Martinez
Pendley (although struggling now)

Did I miss anyone you would include?

It's interesting to read the comments regarding the game from former Sooners, current Sooners, and those considering OU such as:

Morgan
Aaryn
Blake Griffin
Lyndsey Cloman
Dungee
Gabrielle Ortiz
etc

Last night's win has to be one of the most exciting games I have ever seen. After 11 scoreless innings, I thought the Sooners were done when the Vols went up 3-0. Call it Sooner magic or just plain dumb to not give Lauren Chamberlain an intentional pass, it was a great come from behind win.

What's not to like about this team? They compete hard and they have great chemistry, not to mention great pitching and hitting. And what about the little speedster, Brianna Turang? Man, can she fly! I couldn't believe she turned the bases in 11.6 seconds on that errant throw to first against Udub. That's fast in anybody's book.

I love watching Turang play. She is the most exciting base runner I've seen in a while. Unbelievable speed!

That may be the greatest Sooner sports comeback of all time. And started by the END OF THE ORDER who hadn't done anything all night long.

Worried a bit about KR's accuracy and effectiveness tonight. I don't think Renfro can go again, but I bet they trot her out there. Will be interesting to see who, if either, crumbles first.

I think Gasso's team, when you try even out all things, may be the best Sooner sports squad ever. At least it rivals some of Bud and Barry's team for being really good from top to bottom.

Agreed. I said pretty much the same thing on the thread I started on the Men's forum. I was so impressed I started a thread over there before I realized you guys have been talking about it for sometime. I should have known the posters here would be giving the women's softball team their due.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to tonight's game. While I agree that the Vols won't go down easily, I really don't think the game will be nearly as tough as it was last night. This OU team is so focused, and talented, I'll be shocked if we see a repeat of last year's fiasco.
