OU v UTSA

Well, I never imagined a lineup with both KK and Vivi on the floor at the same time. I think it is essential that they switch off in order to spell each other and to create a little mixup for the other team.

I feel like putting Treece in as the starting 4 then rotating EJ (as she gets more experience), and Maddie there. When we need some speed we can put in T'ona, rotate Maddie down. When we need height and strength, use Treece because with her in we still have that outside threat from both her and Maddie.

We really have a lot of options. I think using all our lineups throughout the game could be a nice changeup because teams would have to constantly adjust. We don't have to stick with 5 or 6 players all in one single role.

Also, the quarter system messes up the timeouts, both for called timeouts and tv timeouts. Makes the stretches between breaks longer and/or less frequent. (posted after the other replies posted)

Who would you pull to make space for McKenna?

Dericka - but it's all situational. We need the ability to go big or go quick.

Turnovers per 30 minutes:

Starters
Kay Kay 3.68
Maddie 2.14
Peyton 1.92
Derica 1.38
Gabbi 1.80

Reserves:
Vivi 3.22
T'Ona 4.48
LaNesia 2.37
McKenna 2.14
Gileysa 2.50
Shaya 1.53
EJ 1.30

Notice that our starters tend to make a bit fewer errors.

I have not understood the idea that the quarters system requires better conditioning. What would make it seem that way?

I don't know that they would require better conditioning but just different. You've been playing in games for 3/4 years in one format and all of a sudden you're playing them in a different format. I think we're doing well from our post position so far (sans UNT). I think at the end of the next 10 games we won't notice them getting as tired. I think we saw the same thing last year as well.

I don't think Derica is that much quicker than Treece. She is playing with more confidence this year and is doing a better job on defense and on the boards but quickness is not really a part of her game.

Tango said it. I would pull Derica. Mainly because I think she does better coming off the bench. And it definitely is situational. We could be a very fluid team. With only a couple of players locked into a single position (KK, Gabbi, etc), and quite a few players who could "move around", we could become a team-wide matchup nightmare for many opponents.

The presence of T'ona and Lanesia also lends to our flexibility. These are the two I would use when we need quickness. Derica would be for that spark on the perimeter. I also think she is a little further along in her defense than Treece, mainly because of experience.

BTW, I was told (by a very reliable source) that Sherri's intentions were to use EJ at the 4. That would indicate that she is at least thinking about changing things up.
