OU vs. Florida 11am CST on ESPN

When conference play rolls around that will be the true litmus test.

True....but I also believe that Florida is, very likely, a tournament team and will finish in the Top 3/4 of the SEC. This is a good barometer for us. We are off to a better start than I thought we would be, but as you said, there is a long way to go.

Nice win! This team has some nice depth. Reynolds needs to convert at a higher % on those drives. And def not commit a TO.
Calixte really can run this team well. VERY impressed with the youngster, JB. He's gonna be a good one. Nice game by Muni and RO.

All that plus James going for 18 and 7. Looked to be a solid outing for the team.

We didn’t shoot the 3 well. Do that tomorrow and we’ll give us a chance to be in the finals.

Last years team started real strong early but just couldn't keep it going. Hopefully this team is set up to be stronger as the year goes on because it's a deeper team.

This is a good win. I'm not sure a lot of our fans expected it but they really played well.

Last year's team was very finesse.....there is nothing about this year's team that is finesse. They play harder (at least through 4 games), appear to have a commitment to defense, and are incredibly experienced. There is no substitute for experience....especially in the backcourt. For now, that is why this team has a better chance to be consistent and not crater.

Killed them on the glass, played good defense, and after the first 10-15 mins, did a much better job taking care of the ball. Great effort by RO, and Muni was key. Another game that must have been disappointing to some of the posters who have been conspicuously silent since the season started.

I'm stuck at work and didn't get to see the game (I recorded it and will watch tonight), but checking the stats, I was very pleased to see McNeace and Odomes had such good games and that we won despite Manek not scoring much. I was also pleased to see that, though his shot wasn't falling, Brady got plenty of rebounds, which demonstrated that he didn't let his shooting woes get to him.

Can't wait to watch the game--it was a very big win for us.

Glad to see that Boulder is still dispensing happy pills for the board :D

James is a leader.

exactly. he has stepped up verbally AND physically. these guys do a better job talking now.

it's interesting how much better the group plays when Calixte is on the floor. Myles lost it a bit today and got down and I saw Calixte over there talkin him up.

The point is these guys interact so much better as a team and Calixte is a huge part of that. So between him and James' progression this team seems to have so much better leadership. They even showed it again today. They dont panic nearly as much as we have the last few years.

still too early to say we are a tourney team. We were on fire last year until conference play. The same could happen this year.

I'm not so sure florida is a great team.

This is a different year and a vastly different team. Emphasis on the word team.

I love what we’re seeing on defense this season. We didn’t shoot well from three and we missed too many easy shots in lose, and still won the game. I don’t think it’s too early to say this is a tournament team.

Possible opponent is Stanford. They were scheduled to play Wofford but the game was postponed (wonder if it was fire related).

our opponent will be the winner of stanford/wisconsin

Great win... really felt like OU basketball. Team game. No more garbage.

  • Killed them on the glass...
  • Blocked 8 shots...
  • 15 offensive rebounds...

Too many turnovers but a good game and a great win. I don't care if they are down or what, beating Florida is a good win for any program.

I hope you are right but I'm guessing if you went and read game threads early in the last year, we were talking about how great the team looks and how they play well together.

Things can change quickly, and i'm not holding my breath that we will make the tourney.

Some of you guys have short memories

Bieniemy was a very bright spot in the game. Handled the pressure pretty well. Had a couple soft turnovers you'd expect from a freshman. He looks very natural as a PG. Didnt some say on here he never has really played PG? Very impressive handles. Dribbled and created some really nice looks. Im a big fan of bieniemy. Prolly will have some freshman games, but he well be very clutch for next year with a full year of experience (and hopefully some weights ha. Hes so skinny looking!)

And that is why conference play will be a tell.

It looks like he can create that open shot after trying to penetrate at the top of the key. I suspect when he has more games under his belt we will see him be less reticent and take that open shot more.
