OU vs KU 8pm CST ESPN2

With the KU streak all but ended I've been tempted to dance around singing The Witch is Dead. Probably what other fans feel when our football team doesn't win the conference.

It WAS a rather satisfying win for OU men's basketball. KU usually has players so much more heralded than OU that we have nary a chance. This season KU's talent supply was down and we were finally sinking some shots at home. Maybe that will give them a little confidence and they can put up a fight on the road at KState!??!!

I am just really glad to see these kids hitting an UPswing as the conference season winds down. Momentum and confidence are big deals in college basketball and playing well as the season wraps can make for a really nice march madness outcome.

Most definitely satisfying. :woot

Never thought they would approach last year's record.
Gladly eating Jayhawk crow pie.

It's amazing how "great" of a coach Kruger is when the team actually makes some shots and plays to their abilities!!

Or has he had nothing to do with us winning 4 of our last 5 games?!

Guess I'm confused...since several of you wanted him axed not too long ago!!

Actually, there is nothing to be confused about. We were 3-9 in conference play including multiple embarrassing home losses. Like it or not, a lot of blame goes on the coaching staff. That's the real world. We should all be happy they have done a good job in righting the ship. At the beginning of the year, most of us felt this was an NCAA Tournament team so getting in achieves expectations. Playing into the second weekend exceeds them. Simple as that.

Any discussion of the bubble is over. Great win. Doolittle is on a terror.

Skyvue, I like most of your stuff but if you didn’t see the game you should avoid criticising us critics too much lol. think about what you posted, Freeman was only in 6 minutes and he shot 4 times LOL. Buddy Hield didn’t shoot 4 times in 6 minutes. Freeman shot EVERY time his hands touched the ball and Never passed. That’s not what the 9th player off of a bench is supposed to do. And I also praised the guys who played well, so yes I beat up on Freeman and Reynolds but it was well deserved.

:facepalm:buddy

It is great to see Doolittle be the player we knew he could be, as he showed flashes during his freshman year. His resurgence has been a huge boost to the team. One can usually find good things out of the bad, which occurs, and Doolittle's reemergence was a function of Jamuni injuring his foot.

Actually Freeman's job is precisely that ... take and make open shots. That's the primary reason he was recruited by several prominent D-1 schools. So if he is open four times in six minutes, he needs to shoot. I don't recall any of his threes being forced or closely contested. If he turns those down, people would be questioning why he is in the game or on scholarship if he isn't going to do the one thing he is best at offensively.

Sky's overall point is absolutely correct. Those of us who have been unwilling to mindlessly trash the staff for any everything have been relentlessly called contrarians and sunshine pumpers, etc. The people calling us those things certainly don't ever let up, and they themselves were the ones finding reasons to be negative during a beatdown of KU last night. So for any of them to act like there is something wrong with what cvangild posted is irony at its finest.

Congrats on the win! From Eric Bailey...

NORMAN — Opponents to Oklahoma’s projection in the NCAA Tournament often circle the team’s record in Big 12 play.

The Sooners are already 10 losses on that side of the ledger with one regular-season game remaining.

On Tuesday night, Kansas coach Bill Self watched his team be manhandled by the Sooners at Lloyd Noble Center.

After the 81-68 setback to the Sooners (and the game wasn’t that close), Self was asked if OU was an NCAA Tournament-caliber team.

“Well God I hope they are. Or s---,” the veteran coach said, drawing laughter. “No, they are an NCAA Tournament team. We knew that going in.”

Absolutely NOPE- terrible player with a terrible mentality. Glad he’s not coming back next year, we don’t need players like that EVER!!

when the 2 best players take the most shots OU can be a problem for a bunch of teams

Well said. Valid criticism was warranted during a certain stretch of this season. We were not playing very well in late January/early Feb. But having said that, commendation should now be warranted now that the ship has been righted to a degree. I think Kruger has done a good job in keeping these guys focused when it really could have gone south.

Like you, I expected to make the tournament this year. We will see if they can exceed those expectations with a little success in March.

You never know when a Matt Freeman or Miles Reynolds is going to save your ass....

Let me take you back to 1999.... There was a guy named Alex Spaulding. Back then I wasn't part of fan forums, but the guy drove me nuts. I was probably 16 or 17 years old at the time, but I was a total OU basketball nut back then. The guy averaged 3 points per game, and for the life of me I couldn't figure him out, or understand why he was playing at OU.

Then the NCAA Tournament comes along... This was the Eduardo Najera, Ryan Humphrey, Tim Heskett, Michael Johnson team...

Anyway... all of a sudden Alex Spaulding comes into the NCAA Tournament, OU is a 13 seed, and averages 11 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game to help OU get to the Sweet 16. In the 61-60 victory over 4 seed Arizona, Spaulding had 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists... And he made some CRITICAL plays in that game. I remember watching and thinking, "man, I have been yelling at this guy all year", but when March came around the guy came through.

Point being.... OU made the NCAA Tournament this year. I wouldn't at all be surprised if a Miles Reynolds, Matt Freeman, or someone of that nature does something unexpected.

Certain posters love to criticize all season long (or disappear when the Sooners are winning), but they are very sensitive when they get any pushback, poor things.

Read this thread up till the final minutes of the game and you'd think we'd been losing. And you'd swear that Freeman had played 25 minutes and taken 40 shots, missing 39 of them.

In fact, he played six minutes, took four shots, hit two of them for six points had no turnovers and grabbed three steals.

But he was relentlessly trashed throughout this game thread.

As for "enjoy[ing] this victory and leav[ing] this stuff alone for the moment," one might have said that throughout this game. The Sooners dominated from start to finish, but that didn't keep the glass-half-empty crowd from complaining until the game was fully in hand.

Leave this stuff alone, indeed.

This entire posts wreaks of "two wrongs make a right." It's been a long 3 seasons since Buddy left, with incredibly high highs and absurdly low lows. Taking a night to enjoy being part of ending KU's historic streak seemed appropriate. This game isn't going anywhere, so if you think nanner nanner boo boo posts are in order, there will be plenty of time for that.

Whatever. Never met the dude and I’m sure neither have you. Why do people with thousands of posts on here (do you have anything else to do in life LOL?) come after posters who post legitimate things? Are you his uncle LOL? You are defending him like he’s your son - I’ve been going to and supporting and watching OU men’s basketball for 50+ years and when I see a problem I state it. Reynolds is right there with him and shouldn’t be on the floor. Rarely anything good happens when he is on the floor and if you don’t see that then you should OPEN your eyes. Every once in a while he hits one of his jacks but again, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. Basketball is a TEAM game if you haven’t noticed and when you Don’t pass and instantly shoot the ball 95% of the time you touch it you should Not be in the game. He brings little to Nothing to our team and when that is the case I don’t want to see them on the team or in the game. I support OU men’s TEAM!!

I WANT Freeman to shoot the OPEN 3 EVERYTIME he has an "open" shot!!!

Anyone who doesn't agree with that...obviously knows nothing about b-ball. The guy is a very capable shooter when he's open and in Sync.

I know one thing for certain...at the current moment...I fell 100% more confident in Freeman shooting an open 3 than I do Reynolds making a free throw!!

Once again Wrong, been here for 8 years (when you ass/u/me it’s not good). Are you in junior high? You act like that by calling names and putting people down. Grow up and have a discussion or don’t comment on my posts.
If you want to Actually comment on my basketball post feel free, if you want to throw junior high insults don’t bother. You must be a sad person.

By the way many on this very board have posted similar comments and obviously feel the same way about Freeman and what he does or does not bring to this team. I gues they all need to “get back on their meds” lol. Sad sad person
