OU - Washington

OU's problems have nothing to do with officiating.

Right on. team not great, but so little prepared to play on both ends of the floor. Don't expect much different in the next few seasons. Sad

Make no mistake about it, UW is just a better team tonight. But they have been getting the benefit on a lot of calls, too. Bad officiating though is not the primary reason for our big deficit. Plum is the big difference.

Disappointed that Mulkey has not developed seemingly since the season's beginning. I had some hopes that she might improve.

Play Washington on their court with Big XII ref crew. Wow! Can't get any worse luck.

The season ends the way it started, a team making mistake after mistake. Same mistakes, turnovers and fouls. We did seem to shoot quicker.

When we play teams with athletes, we get crushed. ViVi has trouble against big post players that can move. Carter will probably foul out.

Unfortunately, I agree. Becoming less and less fun to watch the Sooners. I hate that.

Might see some changes when 500 people start showing up for home games..Then again maybe not..if the ones in charge don't care then why should the fans.

We are going to give up 100+ points in an NCAA tournament game.

This was Kelsey Plum's day in every way.

Washington is very good and played great tonight. It would have been a long shot for the Sooners to win.

Tonight shows just how far the gap between the Sooners and upper echelon teams has become.

Huskies shooting 58% from BTA. It's their night...

Doesn't hurt that they have been to the FT line 20 more times than we have, either.

EDIT: Check that, Huskies shot 60% from 3 point land. Even accounting for poor defense, that is shooting lights out! A couple of them plain lucky (one a bank shot, another was a high bounce and a friendly roll.
And the FT discrepancy? 18-28 for UW, 6-8 for OU.

When yer hot, yer hot.

I know it doesn't matter, but that traveling call on Gioya was highway robbery.

Women against girls
Well coached and prepared women against ..........? Another blowout loss. OUr girls played hard to the end. But, against good teams they are totally overmatched. This program is not in a good place. SMH

The UW coach understands that Dickerson is easily influenced and controlled by male head coaches.

Absolutely correct. Virtually every officiating crew that calls a Sooner game make every effort with their calls to insure that Sherri get a L because she intimidates them with her smile.

That is done to make money. Do you think people that were betting on Washington to win needed the game thrown by the refs? Not how gambling works. Best way to make money is for the underdog to win or for the expected winner to not win by enough to beat the spread. Is that what you are saying that, they are fixing the game in either way which I gave as an example? Curious as to what you mean.

There are a lot of reasons for games being influenced besides gambling.

But you better not gamble if you believe what you said. I never do by the way. Look up Sport's Illustrated's articles a number of years ago about NFL players who admitted throwing games - by making sure the spread was covered. The most shocking thing about the articles was how little money was required to get them to throw games.

We are not losing (obviously) due to officials - rather by really great shooting by WU. And the same kind of problems we have displayed all year.

Everyone does not agree, but to me the major problem is our inside players are far too slow - and anytime they face an even somewhat athletic inside player cannot compete.

I really do regret we were unable to keep it respectable tonight. Kind of the story of road teams in the Women's Tournament again. Notice how many more upsets occur in the men's side. That is mainly because games are played on neutral courts.

It would have taken a good game, and we didn't rise quite to that level.

Officiating was very bad. The first foul on Vivi defined what would happen the rest of the game. It was an obvious blocking foul on Osahor who was still completing her step in front of Vivi as they collided. A charge was absurd. That defined how they were going to call the entire game underneath. I don't think Vivi got a single call.

Due to ESPN2, I missed the rest of the first quarter after we fell behind 7-0. By the time I got up on ESPN3, it was the beginning of the second quarter, with no Maddie or Vivi. So, I don't know how they got their fouls.

Plum is good. Osahor is good. But, nobody shoots 60% from three. They did. It was their night. They shot 58% overall. We did pretty well, except for Vivi. We made a couple of bad passes. But, we also got hosed a lot. This was at most a ten-point game turned into a travesty by some rather weak officiating. I get tired of this home court nonsense in the NCAA.

But, we kind of earned the ticket by how we played in the last two games. Forgiving WV isn't easy.

Likewise many husky shots BTA were made without a defender within 5-10'. Often looked like a shoot around. Did a decent job on the boards and shot it well. Just had no defense for Plum's penetrations.

I like OU don't always like the outcome. Having 8000 fans in the stands to support the huskies is pretty huge / instead of being so disgusted that you don't like how the coaches recruit or smile for that matter and threaten 500 fans in the stands why don't you think of the young women who love the game and play for their program of choice. I promise you not all the kids on the OU bench could of only gone to OU. Build the fan base and give a crap how how the kids play that will send a much bigger message to the kids that is if we are true fans. If we are just complainers then continue with whatever it is that is needed to say.

Well, they are flat out better than us. That we kept it as close as we did at the half with Vivi and Maddie with fouls and not playing well anyway, I think we did as good as we could.

We just seemed to lose all sense of ourselves in the second half. When it was so difficult to get a shot we crumbled and when we did get a shot they weren't falling and we still had no inside presence...it is what it is.

Maddie is a good player, but she's no super star and never will be. There is about half of me that wishes she would just move on. It's time in my opinion. She's never going to be more than she is right now and, frankly, that's not good enough to push this team to better things.

I was stunned at the poor play of Vivi when she was in. She seemed intimidated (Washington was good, however inside).

There's no answer for Plum and when the backside guard started bombing us, it was over.

I thought Peyton was the only player who showed up tonight.

On to next year and we must hope for better from coaches and players.

I agree with quite a bit of what you said.

I also thought Chelsea played very well - especially since she is a freshman. Very good days are ahead for her. Peyton, Maddie - and especially Gioya also played very well. But those are the very ones who were forced to ride the pine a lot due to fouls.

Our inside game is a problem. Once in a while, Vivi plays really well. And I really like her as a person and young woman. But she is too slow to compete with athletic players. I'm convinced lots of that is because of the injuries she has suffered over the years. I guess my biggest disappointment this year is that we never found a way to use Nancy very effectively.

Ultimately, you must get the home court advantage in the women's tournament if you want to move to the sweet 16. It is almost impossible otherwise. The 2nd round games tend to be won about 90% of the time by the home team. Think about that number. That is what the top 2 or 3 teams in the nation can do over the season. And suddenly teams that have only been winning 65 - 70 % of the time become virtually unbeatable. The home court is the biggest part of that. But it should not be that big a factor since those are almost always matches with other really good teams. Under normal circumstances there should be a number of upsets - just like there is on the men's side - on neutral courts. My guess is that neutral courts are not too far off for WBB. There were some rumblings about it this year.

Maybe we will all feel better if Sherri Coale apologizes to everyone again. Nah, probably not.
