OU/West Virginia

I didn't get to watch the first half.....and what I saw on the wv broadcast was almost useless.

From what I saw, it looked like the OU team of last year. Too much dribbling, too many bad passes, turnovers. And Maddie needs to go score. Don't try to be tooooo unselfish!

Bad game..get ready for the next one!

And, we played much better in the second half.

Young team. Will have its ups and downs. Maybe not as good as many are saying on here the past couple weeks. Not as bad as many on here were saying back in December. Remember those 6-12 conference predictions. Still have half of the conference season left. I would take another 7-2 half season conference record. 2 home games coming up. Need to win those 2 going into Waco. A 2nd or 3rd place conference finish would mean we would not have to meet Baylor in the conference tourney until thew finals.

This team is very good when it plays together and plays smart. This team turns stupid, as did last year's team, when it breaks down into individual play. Gioya can do that, sometimes. But, even Gioya and Maddie need enough motion to find lanes for drives. Today, even Gioya's shots were mostly ill-advised, almost like Kay Kay when she is anxious.

What surprised me was that Vivi has been doing that, and she made sense with most of her shots today. Needs to learn to shoot free throws.

Some of our players make a stupid shot or turnover. Then, they commit a silly foul trying to make up for it. It is stunning how many of Gioya's and Kay Kay's fouls come within five seconds after they have just done something stupid. With Kay Kay, she often misses a layup, and compounds the problem with a foul after the rebound. Gioya has done that in the past couple of games. Most of the other player's fouls aren't directly connected.

Load the bus, we got our butts kicked today.

Now that's an idea Norm.

Make them ride back to Norman on a bus for playing so poorly today. LOL.

Just teasing of course.

If you listened to the after-game radio coach interview, you probably noticed some frustration in Sherri's voice. The turnovers were especially frustrating to her. Some games the shots don't fall, but that is no excuse to get careless and fail at the other skills you have been improving on. Today they had problems that they had been controlling.

In truth it was mentioned a while back that our girl's team - even in the good years - tends to go through a slump in the middle of the Big-12 season. Hopefully we get it corrected before we lose a home game. If we can keep our conference record to no worse than 12-6 we are very likely (almost certain) to finish in the top 3 since everyone else already has 4 losses.

And that needs to be the biggest goal. Don't let them get too down. We are unlikely to have a better record than Baylor now. Even if we beat them twice (a huge challenge IMHO, albeit possible) the Big Bad Bears would still have only 2 losses - unless an upset occurs involving them.

Sharane has been a very solid player on both ends of the court until lately where she has struggled offensively. She has to get back on track if we are to finish strong the rest of the season.
