What changes for OU, if anything? KU goes away, that has to "help". UCLA is down some currently, but they'll probably be back at some point. No other real basketball powers in that conference other than Zona.

Gonna be interesting, that is for sure.

We have an easier time of winning in the current Pac 12. However UW, Stanford, Wazzu and Arizona have been very good intermittantly. None on the level of KU since UCLA owned college basketball and Arizona was comparable to OU/UT for a while. Looks like an easier conference bball wise for a while.

And how ridiculous is the ACC going to be in hoops now? Goodness.

I like the idea of playing in the Pac-16. A few teams in the Pac may be down right now, but that has traditionally been a very good basketball conference over the years.

Honestly, I don't believe OU has much choice. I think the Big-12, as we have known it for the past decade or more, is doomed. Even if the conference survives it will not be as strong as it was when Nebraska, ATM and even Colorado where listed among its members. Name recognition from schools like Nebraska and A&M mean more than what their basketball programs have brought to the table over the years.

My biggest concern about a move out west is how will it affect recruiting? The football program already has an established recruiting base in some of those states, especially California. Can we do the same thing in basketball? That's a question I can't answer.

Ada,

I think it makes getting the Oklahoma kids all the more important.

No more important than before, IMO.

Oklahoma doesn't produce a ton of tier 1 talent. When it does, OU gets it's fair share (split some with OSU, and the traditional powers). Grabbing up the guys like Godbold (even though I liked him), Neal, and even Cade should not be that big of a deal to OU. We should be able to grab kids like that from everywhere.

I don't know how a move out west will affect recruiting either. I do know that I'm glad we have LK as our coach if we make that transition. I think he will have a good plan.

Great point. With LK having been out west for the past 7 years, he should have a great idea of where to find talent in a PAC 16 conference.

UCLA got a big pick up yesterday with Kyle Anderson...if they get Shabazz, look out.

Not that this matters anymore but Arizona is going to be very good with Miller coaching and the unbelievable recruiting that he's doing. UCLA is loading up as well.
