Polla

I think he moves pretty well for a guy who's 6-11 and appears to be every bit of 270 pounds. Does he possess point guard quickness? Of course not; but slow footed and plodding are not words I'd use to describe Polla.

couldnt agree more. He moves pretty good to be so big. that is not a small man.

He looked a lot quicker up and down the court last night than earlier in the season. That’s a good sign.

Kansas couldn't handle him on the boards. It was after he got the rebound where he got in trouble. As someone else said, he just needs to get playing time and he'll learn to get stronger with the ball.

But as far as straight rebounding, I couldn't have been more impressed.

And I'll say it again, KANSAS COULDN'T HANDLE HIM ON THE BOARDS.

This was a total team effort. We wouldn’t have won without polla’s rebounding and minutes and we wouldn’t have won without Freeman’s flawless execution of the hack a dok.

If Polla can improve his defense he could become a very valuable big during his time here. He abused ku on the boards while he was in the game and had the best seal in the paint that I’ve seen all year. Of course he got swatted but he will learn to use his body to be able to finish sooner than later.

I saw most or all of the games Polla played in the European Games last summer and he had a very nice pic and roll technique. I think many believe because he is so big that he is a plodder. Don't think so. He also had a nice touch on a hook shot.

Year to date in 36 minutes of play he has scored 17 points and collected 13 rebounds.

I thought he did well. Better defense than earlier games although that is certainly a item for improvement. Also he needs to be stronger with the ball and use his body to use his size to avoid having his shots blocked. Needs to gain strength in his hands.

I am not troubled with the prospect of McNease and Polla manning the inside next year.

Me neither. I watched a few of his games. He has a good basketball IQ and can be a force inside. I think you could easily build nice half-court sets around him.

Sorry guys but he is too slow and can not score even after he tries to back his defender down dribbling and shooting over his left shoulder. We took him over Chagrois from Union who is averaging 12 points a game and shooting 42% on threes and 70% at the free throw line. I am glad some of you like how he cheers on the bench. That is where he belongs. How long until he transfers to a D-2 school.

This seems like an extreme opinion.

Hes also 6'9.... polla is 6'11. Different positions... we need big men, not another worse doolittle

I think we need to start a thread that where ya'll can put all the negative posts about our players all in one place. You'll really like it there and other people can avoid it like the plague.

Good idea, MsProud! We could call it the Negative Opinion Forum, where whiners hang out after a great win. :facepalm

excellent idea

Polla is definitely stiff. But the size is different! Nice to have some muscle. He’ll be a valuable guy down the road.

As i've mentioned before, I really like Polla's footwork and balance for a man his size. He will initially struggle against quick, athletic big men, but as he continues to develop, I can see him becoming a 12/8 type of guy before he graduates.

I hope so. I look at our bigs’ footwork over the past few years and, unfortunately, don’t see improvement. If we don’t have anyone on staff to really help Polla then he should get in a good big man camp. If he can develop some inside offensive moves and learn to move his feet on D he will be trouble for a lot of opponents. He obviously needs this even more than Lattin and McNeace because he lacks their athleticism.

Polla logged six rebounds (three offensive) in four minutes.

What’s not to like about that?
