Polla

Sorry guys I just don't think he is very good and is a project. No need to look for a bridge to jump off.

Who has said he wasn't a project? Funny enough, this is how recruiting USED to work all the time. OU has not one but TWO "centers" ahead of Polla on the current depth chart. He's not going to see major minutes this year nor was that ever the plan. Maybe Chargois wanted to play immediately? He's also playing on a team that may or may not make the NCAA tourney depending on how the dominos fall the next few weeks. To say Polla is a stiff and can't play is a LOT different than him being a project that needs work to improve and make an impact in the next 2-3 years that most of us expect.

This. And to say that after a very important game in which he contributed six rebounds and two points in four minutes and then to act as if other people are overreacting to your negative overstatements is absurd.

A stiff and a project are two very different things.

Sitting back and watching a player progress is something of a lost pleasure. Too many fans insist on instant results and if they don't see them, they rush to write the player off.

exactly!! I remember how many people called out Mitch Solomon as a complete waste of space. Today I at least think he gives OSU some solid time on the floor. The Brodziansky kid at TCU was a skinny CC kid who is really a difference maker for them.

Because guys like that aren't flashy and don't have the gaudy offensive numbers that most are drawn to in today's world. Honestly these types of players are the backbone of the non blue blood types that most programs need to build around. It normally takes them 2-3 years to become the "impact" player that most want from day 1 nowadays except for the coaches that recruit them for who they are and what they think they will become.

Take Mitch Solomon off the OSU squad and the Cowboys don't beat our Sooners last weekend.

On a related note: I'm guessing Leroy may be Chagrois' uncle – or possibly his mom. ;)

Has anyone seen Leroy and Chagrois in the same room at the same time??

Polla will be a nice player if he stays at OU throughout his eligibility. You have to worry about guys like him signing a pro contract back in Europe. He is 6'11'' 270 and seems to be good enough to be a rebounder, pick setter, and finish around the rim. Plus he has lots of time to improve.

I could honestly see him being a 6-8 point and 7-8 rebound per game guy next year, which would be great improvement. Then moving to a 8-9 point, 8-9 rebound per game guy the following year. On top of defense and size he provides, that makes you a very solid player.

If he stays, he'll have a niche role to come provide some minutes against traditional bruisers like Azibuike from KU. But in general, guys like Lattin and McNease fit what Lon wants to be doing much better.

I work with Ethan's mom - her name is not Leroy! :)

I hope he does well and I get called out after each game that he helps us win but I don't look for him to play more than two minutes a half at the most unless there is foul trouble. I compare Polla to Chagrois because they both play the 5. Manek is a stretch 4. They told Chagrois he wasn't explosive enough. Polla can't guard a dead man and he is a very slow jumper. Which game this year Trae gave Polla a perfect pass and no defenders in the lane and Polla got his shot blocked and the tv announcer said he isn't ready to play? Sorry guys I just don't think he is very good and is a project. No need to look for a bridge to jump off.

Enough already! We get it. Lon chose Polla over the player you wanted him to sign. I felt the same way about Shaq Morris. Still do, for that matter. He would have been a nice piece in our post depth. Coaches do that sometimes. Time will tell if LK made a mistake by signing Polla instead of Chargois?

Even if he did, what gives you the right to beat up on the kid? Did he insult someone in your family? Last time I checked he was a Sooner who works hard in practice everyday in an effort to be ready to go if called on on game day. He proved he was ready against KU when he got six rebounds and scored two points in four minutes. How is that possibly a bad thing?

If you don’t have an answer to that question, kindly move on and don’t say one more bad word about Hannes Polla!

Sorry guys but he is too slow and can not score even after he tries to back his defender down dribbling and shooting over his left shoulder. We took him over Chagrois from Union who is averaging 12 points a game and shooting 42% on threes and 70% at the free throw line. I am glad some of you like how he cheers on the bench. That is where he belongs. How long until he transfers to a D-2 school.

What's happened to Chagrois since the calendar turned? Is he hurt? In 5 games played this month, he is averaging:

5.4 points
2.8 rebounds
33% field goal %
23% 3 point %
57% freethrow %
20 minutes per game

Nothing against any of our players......but I would like to see what Brodziansky could do with our team. Guy has good hands and is decent on D.

yeah I really like that guy too. he doesn't seem to take a single play off and really mixes it up.
