Yes, we could flame out in epic fashion and lose to the Pokes and in the 1st round of the tourney by 20.

But, we also have more offensive upside than just about anyone in the country. If we get hot we could beat anyone and go on a nice little postseason run. I'm not terribly optimistic about those possibilities given the past month and a half, but that's also a position that most double digit seeds are not in.

So let's enjoy it.

Even when we get “hot”, we’re not going to win unless we defend. When we put forth the effort on defense, we’re a much better team and capable of winning some games. When we are lazy and don’t give any effort on defense, we can’t beat anybody no matter how “hot” we are on offense.

We have to commit to defending or we have no chance.

100% right. We play hard on defense and use a nine man rotation bringing in Lattin, Odomes, Manek and Sheppard (for three minutes), and play super hard we have a chance.

When we defend well, we can beat anyone regardless of how we shoot. But if we shoot well we can beat anyone. Go look at our multitude of wins where both teams scored in the 80s or 90s. So yes, we should try to play better defense. But even if we don't we can hang with anyone if we make shots.

honest question...not trying to be a jackass...

have we really ever played good defense this season? Yes, we've won games early, some by a good margin, but my point is have we just "outscored" teams..knowing the avg.

I'm not sure we have ever played really good defense, doubt it's going to start now.

Can we play better defense to help our offense? sure, will it be consistent?

Can we make a run in the tourney? sure, not going to go all Sweet Sixteen on us..but win 1 or 2.

We def have the potential to be one one of the better double digit seeds..maybe we'll play spoiler this year.

Texas Tech @ home is the only one I can think of off the top of my head...which is sad.

Via Kenpom, our best defensive efficiency games are as followed

1. vs Iowa State
2. vs Northwestern St
3. vs Ball State
4. vs Texas Tech
5. vs Portland
6. vs UTSA
7. vs Oregon

Those 7 games, our defensive efficiency was under 100. The rest were over 100. The first 4 would be better than, or almost equal to Virginia's average defense for the season, which is the best in the country. So yes, we have played good defense, but it has been a rarity. KU was our worst defensive game (not a shocker)

Forget “playing hard” jargon

If we hit our 3s we have a chance
