First off, merry Christmas to everyone and their families, i hope everyone is enjoying today. I was wondering, does anyone think we have a shot at postseason play this season? I'm not talking about the Big Dance, but i think if we get a few lucky breaks and work hard, we could possibly reach either the NIT, CBI, or CIT. What is everyone's thoughts?

I expect the same the next three seasons as I expected Capel's first 3 years at OU. No postseason this year. NIT next year. NCAA the following year.

But we overachieved Capel's 2nd year and made the NCAA and even won a game, so who knows!

But to answer your question a different way, the NIT is now pretty much made up of teams that win 20+ games. We would have to go 12-4 in the Big 12 to get to 20 wins, and that's pretty much impossible with this team in a league this tough. I dont know about the CBI or CIT.

By the way, it's good to have a new poster in this board. Welcome.

Why should we have such low expectations for Capel 5 years in? I don't get that concept Capelfan52 just said. We were in post season play for 26 straight years under our previous 2 coaches. I see nothing that should change that under Capel if he's a good coach. I'm not sure he's a good coach.

LOL @ OSU Nick. Just repeating the talking points coming out of the hellhole.

Hey Nick Merry Christmas.

Would you mind telling us what years you attended OU and what your major was?

boca, if attending OU was a Sooner fan requirement I would be viewed as an outcast. lol Give Nick a break. He's not the same poster you remember from the old board.

Merry Christmas to you and to everyone on OUHoops!!!

No chance this year and very little chance next year. I think if capel is fired after this season then depending who is hired we have a chance in 2013 if we can get a good pg to go along with the front line players coming in. Also need an athletic SG like Taylor was rumored to be.

Boca you are sometimes a funny guy. What does ones major in college have to do with being a good fan? Does an engineering major make you a better fan than a business mgmt major? Sometimes I am just not sure if you are serious.

It's ironic that Boca loves calling people trolls when he is the ultimate Troll

Sticking up for OU and calling out people who just continuously repeat aggy talking points make me a troll?

Which argument is more lame? Can't win without Blake (nobody wins without great players) or 5th year (like it matters what year your roster has to be rebuilt at the last minute)?

Capel has had plenty of success, he will have plenty more. Our rivals will always try to explain away our success as some fluke and only weak or fake OU fans will get sucked into it. There are really only 5 or 6 poster who continuously make the same lame points and guess what? NONE OF THEM WENT TO OU.

If we accept a cbi or other lower tier tournament bid I'm going to any home games with a bag over my head.

OK I will play your game. I went to OU, My brother and sisters went to OU, my parents went to OU, My cousins went to OU, my Granddad went to OU, and Capel has not proven to win without Blake Griffin. He is responsible for the worst season in 30 years, with 3 McD AA's, and this year will prolly be worse.

I can't believe how lame it is that you are running background checks and checking education credentials. Talk about lame.

I have a very close friend that got a full ride to Rice (grad school at harvard) went there instead of OU. His family has had season tickets since the 40's and he goes to almost every football game every year and travels to basketball games when they are in Houston, austin, college station and Waco. Is he a fake OU fan? Is he a troll. Should I tell him to check with you and get clearance before claiming publically to be a fan?

Who put you in charge if th criteria for what an OU fan is?

I'm an old grad '61 but my sons who live and die OU football went to Northwestern and KU. I don't think they should be excluded from the OU family of fans.

As long as they cheer for OU and want whats best for the program, they are good in my book 61.

I spent the entire Chirstmas weekend with my family and absolutely refused to go near a computer. But it's pretty disheartening when this kind of thread is what I have to look forward to when I get back on OUhoops.com.

How about if we all just get ready for the start of conference play and try to have a positive outlook heading into 2011? I realize how most of you feel about Capel, and maybe you're right. But, damn…

I agree.

And I'm also a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. B. A. in History: 2005.
