Potential Lineup for Next Season

I guess one positive is that we at least know of 5 guys that will be cemented in the rotation in Osby, Clark, Pledger, Fitz and Neal...i think Newell can get in the rotation as well as Blair, but they arent locks to me...if we can get a point one of those will be out...

I dont think ive ever been so down on a Sooner team with so many returning players...I wanna believe we are just a piece or two away, with Osby being one of those...i am just too cautious right now to buy in...

Problem is of the players we have coming back, few of them are as good as our competition. Clark would get significant minutes or start for quite a few teams, Fitz and Pledger would be contributing bench players, Blair would not play for a Division 1 school other than us, Osby was a bench player at a mid-level SEC school (and we count on him to start), and Neal, at this point, would be a star on a Division II school. Neal has a ceiling of a big Cade Davis, which isn't bad but he has to get stronger and faster to compete at this level. Bottom line is this team will finish below .500 again next year as they currently stand.

Don't confuse people with FACTS in the midst of a rant. :)

That is not a good percentage.

Congrats Cam, you are the best 3 point shooter on a terrible shooting team. :clap :ez-roll:

you don't think that is a good percentage?

It's probably a decent percentage for Cam, considering he was a true frosh that isn't known for shooting.

But no, overall, it isn't a very good percentage. A lineup full of guards shooting at that clip lose you a LOT of games.

If all of our guards shot that percentage, we would be pretty well off.

LOL.

They do.

Our to top 3 guards as far as minutes played, 3 pointers taken, and points averaged per game all shoot right at that percentage.

Cam - 36.5%
Cade - 35.5%
Pledger - 34.9%

Doesn't get much closer than that. Two guys within 1.6% of him.

And this is one of the best 3 point shooters Capel has ever seen

you listed our top three guards. Thats not what I said is it?

Whatever.

It doesn't matter what your 4th and 5th guards shoot, there aren't enough shots (quantity) to go around, for that to matter. We aren't a bad team b/c of Blair and Newell's terrible 3 point shooting.

36% is a decent average...it's not good when that leads the team though.

That is a good three point shooting percentage for a small forward that gets into the lane and scores in other ways. Honestly, 36.5% is respectable for anyone. In the NBA only 75 guys shoot over 36% from 3 (it is a different line but it is also a different level of players). There are 450 players in the NBA and none of them suck.

In the Big XII only 10 guys shot better than that. There are 156 players in the Big XII. 75 or more are pg, sg, and wings. The NCAA statistics I found put that in the top 75 of all players (the list did not include any OU players and very few Big XII players - it was not consistent with the Big XII stats). There are over 300 teams in D-1 basketball.
