President Obama predicts OU basketball

What bothers me is when the media tries to portray a famous person as an "athlete" when they clearly are not. E.g. The portrayal of Obama as an athlete and Obama's throwing motion. Like or dislike him, it doesn't matter. The guy isn't an athlete.

The media always covers the leisure activities and interests of chief executives. There are zillions of photos of various presidents playing golf. We saw photos and footage ad nauseum of George W. Bush clearing brush on his "ranch" (I'm guessing Obama has more genuine interest and ability in basketball than Dubya ever had in clearing brush).

Heck, they're still covering Bush's artistic endeavors, and I can guaran-damn-tee you that Obama's better at basketball than Bush is at painting.

Dang, sky. One of these guys is our President now, the other was our President pre-2009. Nothing wrong with having a little respect for both.

Did I come off as disrespectful? It wasn't intended.

Perhaps I was mistaken, then. It felt (to me) that your "tone" was disdainful when you addressed Bush's brush clearing and painting. :ez-laugh:

It's all good.

This thread has become silly. Just silly. The more posts that appear, the more silly it becomes.

BTW, for you presidential historians out there, Richard (tricky dicky) Nixon appeared on "Laugh In" back in the 1960s.

The original comeback kid, Richard Nixon rose from the political graveyard in 1968 to become the Republican presidential candidate. Intent on creating the image of a "New Nixon," the one-time former vice president spent much of that election year telling the American electorate he really wasn't the downer he was made out to be. And so he appeared on the least likely of television shows — the variety show Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, whose title was inspired by a decade of sit-ins and be-ins. The flower children were never a natural demographic for Nixon, and instead they gravitated to the Kennedys and anti-war candidates like Eugene McCarthy. But even the hippies had to give it to the future president for his self-effacing rendition of the show's signature line, "Sock it to me."

Silly. Just silly.

Political actors are just that. Actors. All of them. They are putting on an act. RMN. LBJ. Any Bush. Any Clinton. BHO. Not much has changed except the media technology. I would not allow any political actor in my back yard, as they would likely try to steal something, or at least lie to my dog.

I don't respect any of them.

Surely not. Remember, Nixon was not a crook.

Exactly. They all are. You can only tell they are lying since their lips are moving.

But remember this line. Act I; Scene 1
.... "We're from the government, and we are here to help you."

LOL. Yes, that's an oxymoron if ever there was.

I should have guessed that this would turn into a political thread. That's my mistake.
