Pritchard decommits

Maybe it was just too good to be true. Now we need a PG to be Woodard's understudy for a year in the next recruiting class. Will the staff move on or wait for Pritchard to decide? My guess is they will put some offers out there and see who commits first.

I'm sure they've been in communication with the Pritchard's and have a good idea if he's just taking a few trips just to be sure or is really moving on

He's too good to walk away from. As long as we have a chance, the staff will recruit him.

If this doesn't change this is crushing.

I don't think OU will speak with him again. Time to move on..

I don't agree with this. If there's a chance, this kid is worth going to the end for.

stinks...
not many options out there better than Pritchard. Makes the future after the big 3 seem a little more dim

I still think there is a chance this kid comes to Norman. His Dad and Mom still went to OU. His grandparents still live in Moore. He still grew up hearing about OU. Obviously things are not as good as they were but making sure he made the right decision does not mean he made the wrong decision. He could still pick OU. I hope he does for selfish reason but I also hope the kid is happy wherever he goes.

I like the optimism but it takes a significant feeling and strong decision to de-commit from a university.

He could've looked around and talked with recruiters without de-committing. It happens with every major recruit until they actually sign LOI and even then its not off limits for some.

I don't think he'll be a sooner

Not the news I wanted to see when I logged on just now! :facepalm

Then again, I think we all knew nearly every elite school in the country would continue to pursue Payton, and that he could have second thoughts about coming to OU. Let's hope he just wants to be sure before he signs his LOI!

So does anybody have any real info on him ? Seems obvious someone/school got in his ear.

Is that true? Does he really have offers from anybody that is a true blue blood program? I haven't looked recently, and I know he had offers from schools like Oregon and maybe Illinois, but it isn't like he has received offers from Duke, UK, and Arizona, right?

Stranger things have happened, but I agree, it looks pretty bleak right now.

It's pure speculation on my part, but I wonder maybe if one of the "blue bloods" hasn't started sniffing around. It just seems like Pritchard went from solid OU to decommitted without much warning. I feel like something pretty significant must have happened for him to have changed the status quo so abruptly. And, honestly, I wouldn't blame him if programs like Duke or Kentucky were showing interest.

I would. Don't commit so early then - how much time and resources did Lonnie and Co put into him, including passing on other recruits, because he had a player of Pritchard's level with 2 parents who are SOONER LEGACIES locked up.

btw sounds like Oregon is all over him.

People complain about coaches leaving and players who transfer have to sit out a year. Well this is kind of the same thing. A player pledges a commitment to a school and nowadays more and more decommit and dishonor that commitment, for whatever reason. Why commit if youre gonna decommit, unless there was a coaching change, or like a Penn state issue

Fire Kruger?!?!

Haha, jkjk! But I honestly think that fans should take commitments from players more than 2 years from ever stepping in to a class at that school need to take commitments with a grain of salt. Choosing a college is one of the most important decision in a kids life. I think he will end up at OU, still. Just let him take visits, and if he goes elsewhere, OU will be fine.

The last 5 Crystal Ball predictions for Pritchard say he's going to Oregon. All 5 predictions came in the last 2 days. That includes Jerry Meyer who is the Director of Basketball Scouting for 247Sports (He predicts McGusty to OU). Also, an analyst who covers Duke, another that covers Kentucky, and another who covers the Southwest are all saying Oregon.

It sounds like he either doesn't want to leave his immediate family or a girlfriend has gotten involved.... or both.
