When you look at the roster, we are really devoid of a power forward next season except if Maddie is moved to the 4 full time or Odimgbe steps up.

Even if they do, I think it bolsters my early off-season thinking that Sherri might be forced to go two two bigs next season.

We have a plethora of guards.

We have Maddie (who has become more of a 3/4 now), Omidgbe, Treece, and Vivi, even Kellog. Treece and Vivi showed this year they can play. Treece even has a shot from the foul line.

If Omidgbe is as good as projected, I could see a line up of Kay-Kay, Omidgbe, Little, Carter and Ortiz.

Now, I'd also think about benching Little if she starts off like she ended this season and put Manning or one of the other guards in her place. Little's defense stunk since the second Baylor game anyway and she's disappeared from the offense too.

I believe going big Will solve One of our biggest problems which is defense rebounding.

I'm not sure Kay Kay will be one of the two starters... If Louis was at 100% I think she would have started by the Kentucky game.

I would agree with this with one caveat - One of the bigs has to have a face the basket game. In only helps on occasion to have two true post players in the game at once.

Treece has that capability to develop it.

I don't know about Ojmidgbe.

That's the one I have my fingers crossed for. With the plethora of post players we have now and Mulkey coming in the next year, I really hope they can train Ojmidgbe? as a power forward.

Mac, I would be extremely surprised if this happened. KK is about one million times more athletic than any of the others. Vivi does OK, but she fouls just as bad as KK and almost never makes any good moves to the basket. Her shot is really weak most of the time, she does not know how to move on the inside, etc. Can she learn? Hopefully, but we would have lost at least 5 to 6 more games this year if we had benched KK for the others.

They don't need to start the game that way but, I think they need to entertain the idea as a rotational strategy. Why not?

The problem is it doesn't fit the run and gun style. And face up 4 that can run the floor is a lot better fit for that, but I don't see why we can't try to slow people down and really beat them up inside.

I have to agree with the Little deal- if she can't hit an outside shot she just honestly doesn't bring as much to the table as a Gioya and Maddie... You have to entertain starting those two at the same time, you absolutley have to. Though Gioya and Maddie do clash at times because they both are trying to do the same thing, the dynamic would be overwhelming- and could also fit together with time.

If Gioya develops a couple counters to her crossover its over..

If Maddie gets stronger, I don't think anybody is going to stop her.

Vivi needs to develop a low post game but she could be a force next season.

And my final thought..... Move Lenesia to POINT! The sky is blue, don't try to say its Green.... Lensia is not a scorer. It is very obvious she is told to attack the rim and get her offense going and she commits several negative plays because of that. But what if she was just told to set up the offense and work the ball around??? I think she would be amazing. She's lightning quick. She could develop into a much better option than TT IMO. And honestly could even steal some minutes from Gabbi because she can keep up with anybody. I think thats her position, we'll see i guess.

Correct. Except the additional losses could have been as high as a dozen. Why the jelly beans get on here and insult a nice player is a mystery. She isn't Courtney. But, she is an upgrade over the last post player.

I suspect that Odimgbe will be a power forward, as I expect Vivi and McKenna to be. But, I anticipate that McKenna will play facing the basket. When Nancy comes in, she will be the post, likely as a freshman. There are your two bigs. But, Nancy will be a high post most of the time. When we slow it down and play set, we will use Nancy at high post. She can hit probably sixty to seventy percent from the free throw line. From that position, she can also see over everyone to see who is open. She becomes a high post/point guard.

Anyone remember Alvan Adams and how Phoenix used him? He could shoot, but he was the best passer on the team, maybe in the league. By operating at the free throw line, he let their post come out to guard him, leaving the power forward underneath. He could pass to an open guard for a shot, or to the now-free forward underneath, all alone. Anyone remember how many times he hit Prichard in the back of the head with a pass?

Nancy can kill from the free throw line if there is someone underneath that can score. The defense will come out to her because she can hit that shot. That would leave Vivi, McKenna, or Ijeoma underneath all alone. At the free throw line, she is one step from the rim if she needs it.

When we are in a running game, we just put her in at low post on defense and collect the rebounds. She is a great outlet passer, and she turns good shooters into bad shooters. Some running guards will be very happy when she arrives.

I'm sure the same was said about KK her freshman year. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing how VV plays next year. She ought to be healthy and strong and ready to go.

And let's not forget how many times KK benched herself due to fouls.

I thought ViVi played great this year and gave us far more than ANYONE expected. I think for as raw as she is she is powerful and has a good low post game. It will only get better.

Her fouls are from inexperience. I guess she will get on top of that problem long before Kay-Kay does.

I think the sky is the limit for Vivi.

Now that she has learned to shoot free throws, it means that she can shoot. She is already our best shot blocker on the inside.

Syb,

Vivi's improvement at the line has been amazing. Early in the year I would just sit there and cover my eyes. It was actually kind of funny.

But as the season progressed so did her Free throw shooting. She has gotten amazingly accurate.

Now that is what I call Improving Your Game. She has to be really proud of herself - as we all are.

I hate to say it- and maybe its just us being a young team. But some of the things Stanford did, was so much better than us.

Between 5-7 players, they have literally perfected the pick roll. I was just sitting there thinking, man- if we could just run it like that we would be unstoppable. And what they were doing did not require more ability, if it was about ability we would of won by 30. It was just a real demand for perfection- i feel there coach nit picks them to death- and it absolutely shows. Sometimes there lack of talent prevented them from really performing, but man- when it was good, it looked perfect.

Maybe we will have the same kind of expectations next season, and as result be just as crisp.

You know, S4L, we do just simply look totally undisciplined at times. But then we get under control and play smooth and slick.

Maybe as they mature we will see more of the latter and less of the former.
