Reaves shot 26% from 3 against high majors at WSU

Checked a Shocker forum and they have a thread about Austin on the first page... Not very flattering either.

"Reaves is at his best as a one man show. He’s not good at getting open so he needs to have the ball in his hands and he needs to take the shots."

"I'm not dogging on the kid, but he doesn't do much on defense and he doesn't share the ball, or much else. From my vantage point, he was a liability to Oklahoma."

"but he's not a fit for WSU with how he wants to play. That's obvious. Someone on the OU board said it well ... Kruger needs to remind him he's not Kobe"

"To use an old school term, he’s a hot dog. Maybe a poor mans Pistol Pete or something. Lots of fancy through the legs dribbling that’s fun to watch, but rarely seems to result in anything positive for the team. Also has never seen a shot he didn’t like. I can’t really think of a comparable college player today, he’s kind of unique."

"Austin struggles to get open and he doesn't really play D. These things wouldn't help us this year when we have numerous other guards that can do both of these things. He's not really a PG but he's most effective at point because he controls the ball and take take whatever shots he wants. That wouldn't help us at all this year, we need a PG that can distribute. I don't think anyone is saying he's not good, but he doesn't fit with our team. He would be great at a place like Evansville who is happy to ride one guy."

And.... they are reading this forum and are making references to me, WichitaSooner, and others... which is kind of funny.

"The guy who started the thread never really got any traction with his post. The thread ended up with some wanting to recruit jucos and others saying there were no good juco guys......ironically this is after a "Juco" guy grabbed 15 rebounds on them."

"I have to admit, I did enjoy reading some of the comments. It's pretty clear, OU is definitely a football school. Not a lot of BBIQ in that thread although there does seem to be one guy, despite his rants about Lon, who understands the value of bringing in JUCO talent. But how about the poster who is only interested in local talent? LMAO.

Now I just want to know, which one of you f*@&3rs is WichitaSooner?!!!"

Remember one thing in reading that kind of thread on a WSU board -- they are so butt hurt over him leaving that if he was averaging 30 and shooting 60% from three for OU, they would still be bashing him as terrible. WSU fans are more than willing to take transfers, but heaven forbid one of their players goes the other way.

Also -- bigabd, I guess we have made the big time if they mention us. :) They must not have read all my comments on this board about how much I despise their program lol.

He's a dude that needs the role he had at WSU, and apparently wasn't interested in accepting that role. He's not good enough or talented enough for the role he's trying to play.

He's not a bad athlete, but he's not a great one. Not a terrible ball handler, but not a good one either. What he can do is shoot the lights out. Problem is shot selection.

It appears I'm being mocked by the Wheatshockers for my anti-JUCO stance. I'll say this: Marshall is a hell of a lot better at evaluating contributors at that level than Kruger.

I stand by my local stance. I'll take the slightly undersized forward from DFW or Houston any day of the week over a project from the NBA Global Academy. I prefer Metroplex guards over a big who averaged a whopping eight rebounds per game at Bella Vista Prep.....wherever the hell that is.

I think the correct answer lies in a combination of our stances...
