I was wondering if some of you that follow basketball recruiting could let us know who the remaining targets are and your opinion on OU's chances.

I would suspect Pritchard is still a target. I know McGusty and Doolittle are commits. Beyond that I really don't know a lot. I would assume OU will take five to fill out the roster and that assume CJ Cole stays. I have heard he wants to go to medical school and he should be a senior academically and a junior in eligibility. I could potentially see him decide to move on medical school. With the campus being in OKC and the commitment it takes, it wouldn't seem practical to play basketball and attend medical school. (I have no actually knowledge that he is remotely thinking about not playing his senior season.) Therefore, OU might have six scholarships.

I'd be shocked if Cole is allowed to stick around another year.

I would be shocked if he wasn't. I think it will be his decision. He has never been in trouble, made good grades and gotten some minutes. I don't want OU to kick kids off the team unless they do something wrong. Based on things I have read about Lon Kruger, I don't think he would do that.

I see this being a mutual understanding/accommodation for both parties. I think there is an understanding that the day CLK asks for that scholly back, CJ takes one for the team. Just my opinion.

When was the last time we used all 13 scholarships? There is no reason to get rid of him we we still have another scholarship to give out for the 2015-2016 season. So That 1 plus the 4 srs. = 5 for the 2016 class before cjs. 2 comments means 3 left

I tend to agree. It will be tough to fill 5 scholarships this year. I certainly can't see needing 6. We already have Doolittle and McGusty committed. I would think a couple of 'ships would be used on a juco or transfer so half the team isn't set to graduate in the same year.

I agree. I'm not saying anything is eminent or that CLK would ever do it. I just think that there is an understanding. It's obvious to everyone and I think to CJ that he is not a legit D1 scholarship athlete. If his was ever needed, I think he'd give it up.

To bad Davidson didn't know he wasn't a legit D1 athlete they were mad he signed with OU. Seems like they do well each year

CJ might have gotten playing time for Davidson but he's been a good undergrad at OU. He had a 34 on the ACT and a 4.0 at OU. He's an academic stud, but enough about him.

Let's get back to DenverSooner's original question. Who are the current recruiting targets? We need a PG. Who are our next 3 prospects after Pritchard? Who are the top 3 Juco prospects at any position? In general, we have 3 more spots to fill and who is on our recruiting board?

Andrew jones combo Guard from Texas.
Recent offer
4 star kid.

I think we are only taking 2 more guys. A pg and a big

Maybe, but we have 3 more available scholarships to give out. I'm sure if the right players want to commit, they would give them all out. For example, if a stud transfer wants to come to OU after next season they could hand out the 5th one.

If CJ did choose to go to med school after next season or someone decides to transfer, I'm not sure Kruger would want to only have 11 scholarship players for the next season.

I'm guessing they're planning to use them all.

Got a tidbit today that Marques bolden is priority #1.

Obviously a PG is a must.

Bolden? We have a chance? Man that would be one of the best OU classes on paper ever? How do we get him over Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville?

I was pleasantly surprised as well. But this staff doesn't mess around. On the boat or off.

Mcgusty was headed towards those kinds of offers. Maybe not Duke or UK but for sure ku and ul. (Already had ul)

Tidbit on Doolittle-

was definitely a surprise to see Oklahoma commit Kristian Doolittle at the KC Hardwood Classic, but that's not to say it wasn't a pleasant one. The Rivals150 forward for 2016, who normally plays for Athlete's First, suited up for the Oklahoma Wizards 17U, and it was pretty fun to watch. Oftentimes the biggest player on the court, the 6-foot-6, 200-pounder still handled the ball and used his athleticism to attack the basket with ease most of the time, while also posting up a couple of times and scoring in the lane. Doolittle was also effective on the defensive end when opponents from the STL Majestic 17's drove into the lane. What also made it fun was watching the scrappy guard play from teammates Elyjah Clark and Darius Roy, who both hold offers from Mercer, alongside him. Again, it was a nice surprise to stumble into.

Couldn't he be a 1 and done type player? at 6'10'' that would be HUGE. What are the chances we actually get him?

Crystal Ball shows Marques Bolden 77% to KU, 15% to Baylor (DeSoto is an hour away from Waco), and 8% Alabama. OU doesn't even show up on his list. I'm guessing Chris Crutchfield is recruiting him since he has primary responsibility for the Dallas area, but Steve Henson recruits a lot of the bigs. Probably both are talking with him some.

Marques Bolden Crystal Ball

This article was generated by Kentucky, but it has a lot of good information about Bolden and his relationship with former Sooner Jeff Webster. It can't hurt that Webster is his mentor...... talk every day.

Bolden and Webster connection

I'd love a 1-and-done type player this year, but I think that would probably do more harm than good the year after.

Yes. Im not saying we are landing him and I think its highly unlikely but hey if staff thinks they have a shot... Lets give it a shot!
