Romero Osby a Sooner per Evan Daniels of Scout

You're talking about a guy who would probably started for us this past year, next year, and in 2011. If I'm recruiting for 2011, he's probably the best prospect that OU is in on. Also you're talking about a guy who had to play behind Varnardo and Augustus.

This is the best post on this subject. Because of Varnardo and Augustus he didn't see the court. Not to mention he didn't get the kind of coaching at MSU he'll get at OU. V & A were all-conference guys. He sounds like a more athletic, taller, more physical Fitz. That'd be a great get. Maybe a poor man's Damion James.

He is definitely a legit 6'8" or so and is very well built. He is a physical specimen from what I saw and this was all in street clothes. Seems like a good kid, very polite and a huge pickup for us!

would really like to be in on Noreen as well. I would like clarification on what this means for our chances with Noreen.

Unless one of the incoming recruits isn't qualifying, or one of our current remaining players is leaving, or somebody is paying their own way next year (not likely) we can't take anyone else.

1. Pledger
2. Fitz
3. Davis
4. Hardrick
5. Clark
6. Taylor
7. Newell
8. Blair
9. Washington
10. Neal
11. Thompson
12. Ahmed
13. Osby

And unless one of the above leaves during the next four months we only have one scholarship to give next year (Davis').

No. Unless one of them leaves during the next twelve months we only have one to give.
Somebody will leave.

I am very skeptical of transfers. Why is he leaving MSU? I would definitely want to know if this kid is a hard worker. Is he simply leaving because he thinks it is going to be easier somewhere else. Many times transfers are bad apples and end up embarrassing the program. But considering the crap we have been through with the basketball program maybe Capel thought it was worth the risk. Osby does seems to have all the tools to be a decent D-1 player. I just hope he works hard.

Guys, guys this happens everywhere and at every program and it ALWAYS works out. Someone leaves or decides they don't fit in at OU. Trust me it will all come out in the wash. They will get the guys that they want in the program and they won't run out of scholarships. It just works that way.

The pessimist may be right in the long run, but the optimist has a better time during the trip.

I agree with this quote. I don't mean to be negative about this kid I am just trying to temper my enthusiasm with reality. Do the numbers. How many transfers have ever turned out to make a positive lasting contribution without having some type of issue of the court? Out of say the last twenty kids who have transfered to OU MAYBE three have panned out. I am not saying that he won't be a positive influence but I don't know how we can just jump on the bandwagon simply because he wants to come here and Capel made a decision to welcome him. We don't know anything about ANY of these kids. I'm taking a wait and see approach.

OU has had some kids to leave who turned out to be good players for the schools where they landed. While we haven't had the best of luck, good players do make changes which can benefit both the player and the new school which picks them up.

So is the offer off of the table for Noreen? My speculation is on another player on the roster, but seeing him in workouts shows me that he probably is a solid member on this team.

I'm sure they are still recruiting Noreen as hard as they can b/c we still have one scholarship available and thats the Hardrick scholarship. It can be used for top 100 players only who will make an impact right away.

We were after this guy pretty hard when he was in HS. Great news, hope the H8tr's will go cry somewhere else.

Yeah, but what I was trying to say is if we want to sign more than one in the early period (this November) than one of the 13 listed will have to be gone before season starts. I do agree that we will have a couple more to give by the time the late signing period comes around, but it would be nice to have the option of more than just one to give in the fall. Maybe Capel signs more than one this fall and things work their way out later.

Kyle is still using his scholly at the moment,do you have info otherwise?

I think this is a good pickup...this kid was probably ranked higher than Washington or Thompson out of hs or juco, so if he has the heart/desire of these 2 players, then he may be able to help us.

He can't do any worse than what we had this past season...

So does he occupy one of our scholarships for 10-11 if he's sitting the year out?
