Romero Osby a Sooner per Evan Daniels of Scout

All I know about this is that when coach barnes was on our staff he wanted Romero on our team very badly. If you watched the videos you saw that Romero was allowed to drive the ball in highschool and on his aau teams. From what I hear he wasn't allowed to do this in college. Apparently Coach Capel will allow Romero to do this at Oklahoma. Don't think that his size and physicality won't benefit our team next year in practice. This kid is a beans and cornbread type of guy. If he will just apply himself more he could end up being a very good player for us. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!

Yes, he definetely has the skillset. However, in College basketball, these guys aren't going to have the freedom to be versatyle like they would like. I don't see him in an iso set with the ball at the top of the key nor do I see him spotting up for threes. We've saw this past year what happens when a player plays out of his element. If he wants to work on his floor game, do it in practice and then when it's perfected, implement it in the game.

I like most of the offers this spring but there is something unsettling about filling all the ships with non McDs after chasing them so hard. Its very hard to explain but if any of the late kids had been offered and signed early, I would be more excited. It would have given a perception of really liking the kid no matter the ranking. This is a very different approach compared to 1 yr ago.

Interesting... Maybe things will pan out with a scholly. NO ONE should be saying that we will not have one next year. The way things have been going, i honestly wouldnt be shocked if i logged on tomorrow and saw that 6 guys commit for next year.... I think i have gave up on trying to guess the future with this program on a daily basis

We were after this guy pretty hard when he was in HS. Great news, hope the H8tr's will go cry somewhere else.

Fans who have follow recruiting closely should be familiar with the name Romero Osby. He was one of at least two Mississippi players OU was in on when Rod Barnes was an assistant. I really wanted this kid back then. Obviously, Coach Capel did too. I think this is an excellent pick up. I only wish he was eligible to play this fall.

Malcoln Kirkland was the other one. OU aslo recruited Elgin Bailey who went to Mississippi State. He's from Louisiana.

Sometimes finishing second in recruiting isn't so bad I guess. Lot's of the top 50-100 type players seem to make a move at least once for various reasons.

Amen to that. I'll be glad to have him aboard, but it's frustrating not to have all our weapons available to us right now.

Yep, this was one of Coaches Southeast "connections".
Has their been any release from the OU department on Osby officially becoming a Sooner? Does he sign anything or just transfer into school next year? The more I read, the more excited I'm getting. I'm like you guys though, too bad he can't play this year.

Thanks. I couldn't remember the name Malcoln Kirkland. I completely forgot that Elgin Bailey was an OU recruit as well.

If we keep everyone(which is probably impossible to do in college basketball this day and age) we are pretty much done with recruiting for 2010 and 2011 correct? Now more than likely we'll lose a player or two so we'll have to get a player or two for the 2011 class, but lets just hope that we remain fairly intact for once. Hopefully this gives Capel a good head start on the 2012 class.
