Rotnei Clarke expected to visit OU next week

Leave it to the band geeks to drum up "attitude concerns" over a proven player.

Funny how you trashed Cade Davis repeatedly, but call Clarke a "proven player." Their stats last season were pretty similar.

And when you can't win an argument on logic, resort to insults, right?

I'm surprised you didn't mention how much money you make in that post. An off-day, I guess.

"This is so similar to his other situations," said assistant Steve Henson, who played for Kruger at Kansas State. "We'll do it the same way he's done it everywhere. You recruit good kids, unselfish kids. Of course, you need talent. But we always look at the big picture. There are no shortcuts."

That sums it up. Clearly Coach Kruger is of the opinion that attitude matters. As I've said, if Coach K opts to bring in Clarke, I'll trust his judgement.

Their stats last season were pretty similar.

Yes and no. Clarke was 8% better from three, and 13% better from the free throw line. They also took a pretty similiar number of shots during the year, yet Clarke is always regarded as a "chuncker", and Cade a guy that gets teammates involved. Rotnei only averaged 0.2 less assists per game then Cade. Rotnei also turned the ball over about 38% less.

I wasn't claiming they were precisely equivalent players, just pointing out the hypocrisy of boca's crusade against Cade and praise for Clarke. They're not nearly as far apart as his respective portrayals of them would suggest.

That is a sizeable disparity in favor of Clarke and I am a Cade fan.

yeah, i think you have to take him...

regardless, in Lon we trust.

A shooter like Clarke can do unbelievable things for a ball club, especially if the game is going to be decided by a field goal or two

His defense isn't as bad as some have said. He isn't a guy who will get exploited, but he definitely isn't a good defender. I am sure someone has seen him play more than I have, but I thought he was a very average defender.

What about defense? Does he not play defense as some have said?

It isn't that he doesn't try to play defense or that he is lazy or something like that. It is just that he isn't particularly athletic. If he is having to guard a better athlete, he can struggle sometimes. He is just a really good shooter. If he ends up as a Sooner, he wouldn't be the best player or the guy that carries the team. But, he would be an upgrade from our current crop of guards.

The object of the game is to put the ball in the hoop and Rotnei is great at it. We need players, good players. Kruger >>> Pelphry, and after a year of practice he will have as much experience under Kruger as all of our players.

It's a no brainer to me, we take him.

If you are worried about his attitude, let's get him here first and see for ourselves. He hasn't had any trouble with the law or grades or drugs or anything.

Leave it to the band geeks

Seriously?

How old are you? Honestly, the band is part of what makes college sports great. Perhaps you should thank those men and women that worked hard in college to make the game day atmosphere special. It wasn't my thing but I appreciate the Pride. They add to the experience of having been a student at OU.

Don't feed the trolls with replies, it only makes them louder.
