Speaking of coaches being under the heat, at what point does he get heat put on him? They lose by 20 tonight to an average Ga Tech team. It's a possibility they go to the NIT again this year. Two NIT's in a row at UNC? And really...next year doesn't look to be anything special. I'd be surprised if Barnes and Henson both come back. I think one or both go to the league.
If Roy was still at KU do you think KU would have went to some NIT's?

I think Roy has lost some of his luster. You really don't hear the national media talk about him much. I'm not sure if he's a top 10 coach anymore.

I doubt there's any heat on him. He's won 2 National Titles there, and they had some real tough times after Dean Smith so they know it's not easy to replace a legend. You don't give up on a guy with 2 NCs.

They just need a big-time PG. Ty Lawson and Reymond Felton were perfect for his fast-paced offense. The last 2-3 years they just haven't had a PG of that calibur.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Take this crap to a KU board.

Mods...please delete.

Hopefully they fire Roy and Harrison Barnes transfers to OU. Maybe that is what Capel was talking about when he said the future was bright.

Clark, Osby, Fitz, Barnes, Guerrero = Championship in 2013!!!

Their fans are livid though. Matt Doherty didn't get much time.
They just got beat by 20 by a 7-8 Ga Tech team.
He's not going to get a free pass for long. It's UNC. Quite possibly the most elite program in college basketball. Back to back NIT's would be unheard of at that program.

Barnes isn't transferring to any school. He'd go to the NBA before staying another 2 years in college.

I see your point, but Doherty also didn't win 2 National Titles for them (and winning the latest one only two seasons ago).

You'd think Williams would get perhaps a 2-year grace period after winning the National Title again, but we'll see what the vibe is should they not make the Tourney this year. Will be interesting to see.

I am sure the fans are upset but the decision makers are probably not likely to fire him. I am not a Roy Williams fan by any stretch of the imagination but you have to admit he is a good coach. He has over 600 wins and did not take his first head coaching job until 1988. I think this is his 24th season. He is averaging over 26 wins a season as a head coach.

I personally can't stand Roy Williams from my only meeting with the man, but I would actually welcome him to Norman if he gets fired. That would be weird and extremely unlikely.

He is a good coach. But back to back NIT's at North Carolina just can't happen. Especially with all the talent. They don't lack talent.

The only heat that will come if UNC goes to another NIT is from the fans that don't appreciate a coach that wins big in the ncaa tournament when he makes it there.

I heard a rumor that if UNC decides to rid itself of Williams that they will likely hire Bill Self as their new coach. Anyone else heard these grumblings?
