Grand news, the new staff not being good at recruiting maybe terribly overstated. Get kids that fit the system.

Great job as usual, WJ! :clap

If OU gets Grooms they are going to the NCAA Tournament next season.

Period. End of Story. See ya later.

I hope you're right. I'm purposely tempering my expectations and hoping for an NIT bid. I don't want to get too high in the wake of the coaching change and allow that to cloud my judgement.

I was thinking with Kruger's coaching and the addition of Osby and maybe a couple more athletes that making the tourney should be a real attainable goal anyway. But I agree, a more than serviceable PG should make not making the Dance a disappointment.:austin686_jpg_xs:

You think?

Plenty of posters on this site think Blair is more than serviceable. I've seen parts of it. He has to be able to shoot a little from the outside and his ball-handling has to improve.

Regardless, he will help to provide depth in the event Grooms is injured or in foul trouble.

You're right, Booger. There isn't an uncommitted point guard left out there who can come in this year (either as a freshman or JC transfer), replace Blair in the starting lineup and take the Sooners to the dance. Maybe someone like the kid at Duke (Kylee Something-or-other?) could be that guy, but there's no one like him available.

I'm not saying the Sooners don't have a chance to make the tournament this year. If Kruger can sign a couple of the right players who can fit well with the kids we already have, we could, indeed, make a run at the tournament. But if we do, it will be with Carl Blair, Jr. starting at the point. And, yes, it's critical that CB improves his ball-handling skills and 3-point shooting.

My deal with Blair is that while he isn't particularly good at anything, he isn't absolutely terrible at anything either IMHO. I think that he will probably improve over the summer, but not sure how much "upside" he has.

We still need two PG's on the roster in a big way so there is competition for the position and depth, and I sure hope we are looking hard next year for another one.
