Just heard that he'll be the lead Asst for McHale with the Rockets.

That's too bad.... At least he can make all of the phone calls he wants there. And, he's not head of the ethics committee.

I'm surprised anyone, in any league, would even hire him. Certainly someone that made an extra phone call per week deserves to be shunned for good from the game. Especially when pillars of integrity and doing the right thing like Bob Knight and Eddie Sutton came out against him.

"People need to get over foolishness that hiring Kelvin Sampson is somehow "controversial" in NBA. It isn't. He's a good coach."

Good for him as it's a step closer to getting his own team down the road. Regardless of the animosity many OU fans still hold for him, I thought Sampson did a good job while at OU and wish him nothing but the best.

The T-Wolves should have hired him as their head coach..

Agreed, Sampson did a great job at OU. Just had a hard time with those pesky NCAA rules. That said I think he's shown he's a good coach and obvious has respect among NBA front offices. He was getting mentioned for a HC job this offseason.

His teams were too physical for my taste. I believe you can defend well without just mauling people on the defensive end.

Having said that, I do believe that his players were well coached (playing the style he liked to play) and he got the most out of his players' ability.

The rule breaking on multiple occasions was ridiculous.

Why would you possibly feel this way?

Well, if calling and texting a recruit too much is cheating, then anything is cheating now a days. What he did is nothing compared to what the college football coaches do today, or even coaches like Calipari or Bruce Pearl. I still respect Kelvin very much and thought he was a heck of a coach. Our D and physicality hasn't been the same since he left OU.
