If Henry does not make it to OU next Fall, does that mean OU still has 2 'ships to give out? If so, does OU hold onto one or both for 2013? If not, has anyone heard any names from the HS or JUCO ranks that OU is looking at adding?

If Henry doesn't make it, we'll have two available. I don't think we'll "try to hold onto" either of them for 2013, as we already have 6 or so coming available. Cole may get one. Not much left out there in the HS ranks that would be worth grabbing, that we have a legitimate shot at. I'm guessing we sign a JUCO big later. Might also grab a transfer, but that obviously won't help us next year.

I'd still like to see us use one on the best JUCO SG (shooter/scorer) that we can land.

If there aren't any true difference makers out there, I hope we hold onto them. If there's a transfer out there that would be a good route to go.

Transfers/what recruits bail after coaches are fired are the way to go as it should be a best available type pick up

Thanks Sam! You may not be able to mention any names, and that's fine, but are you hearing anything about any possible transfers, even if OU hasn't been mentioned with them?

I have no clue, lets wait to see what starts to shake down with coaches being fired/leave. I think thats when we'll see real movement

One possibility for a transfer is Alex Oriakhi for UConn; he's going to be a Senior next year and since UConn is going to miss the NCAA tournament due to sanctions, he could transfer anywhere in the country and be eligible right away. I believe he is a PF. Just something to think about.

How do you know he'd be eligible right away? He'd have to be graduated, and ready for grad school, if I remember right.

Why hold them? Even if the guys are role players that don't see a lot of action, it is probably better to have guys on the team so they know what they are supposed to do for 2013. OU loses 6 guys. The more returnig players that know the ropes the better.

Agree...If OU wants to win next year and the years following, they need to use their scholarships...either for Jucos, late bloomers or transfers but theres no way that were going to be able to compete the following year after losing 4 starters and 2 key reserves.

I guess we haven't learned anything from the past few years re: wasting scholarships on "projects" or "role players" that never amount to anything but a seat warmer.

I would agree if OU wasn't losing 6 players. However, only returning 5 guys (6 graduate, 2 unusued scholarships) will mean the team harldy knows how to practice. Having 7 guys that know what is expected and how things work will help in my opinion. I want OU to get two Juco players that can contribute, even if just 10 minutes a game.

Too many new guys needed for minutes is bad, even if they are talents. 4 returning players as starters and another returner or 2 off the bench. 1 freshman as a starter is pushing it . Freshmen should be role players. Willie Warren was a very good freshman because there was so much experience and structure around him including BG da!

So Mbaye, Cam with a true frosh pg. We need a center or PF transfer or juco this spring, with Hornbeak or Hield , one as a starter, one on the bench with Neal, Henry and a frosh big. Include 1 more frosh guard and that is a young 10 man rotation. If any of those names are gone we are that much younger.

What's the deal with Henry? I thought he was poised to enroll this spring, and now he might not make it in the fall?

I don't think so; pretty sure if you transfer from a school to another school due to postseason eligibility issues you're good to go right away.

A) you don't know what a kid will do until they get here and maybe are even here for a year or 2.
B) It would be nice if OU was able to pick and choose the players they want to bring here but its obvious that OU hasn't been that way for a very long time.

Do I have something wrong?

2012-2013 (12 scholarship players)
Osby/Fitz/M'Baye/Clark/Neal/Arent
Grooms/Blair/Pledger/Hield/Hornbeak/Henry

I am assuming that is correct...
So if Henry is out, then there should be an open scholarship this year.

2013-2014
M'Baye/Clark/Neal/Hield/Hornbeak

So there would be a potential of 7 scholarships available in '13-'14?
Can you imagine the 'quality' of player that would be a 6th and 7th late signee? Talk about projects and stabs in the dark. Much less find 5 quality guys to come in and see 4 of them contribute right away.

What a cluster***k!
We have to bring in somebody else this year if Henry isn't available.
