Lost a bunch of players to injury.... Reels off 5 in a row to get a bid. They end the year with OSU in Austin. Win that and they are a hot team on a 6 game streak going into the postseason.

Andrew Jones, matt Coleman, Royce Hamm, Febres, Kai Jones, Brock Cunningham, Courtney ramey, will Baker, Jericho Sims, and Liddell ALL return... The entire roster.

I wonder what its like going into the postseason on a winning streak?

I, for one, am glad he saved his job. I would hate for texas to fire him and hire a good coach.

We sucked tonight. We sucked even worse than a Sherri coale team, and that’s saying a lot.

Agreed Shaka isn’t scaring anyone, but its’s not possible to suck worse than a coale team.

He's done a better job than Lon Kruger this year.

I think he has also. I was actually impressed with their play last night. And not only their play, but the ways Shaka was using to guide them.

That’s a very low bar. That is not the standard that OU basketball should be held to. We need to stop being content with mediocrity. Aspire to be greater. We have been before and we can again.

well it's one thing to SAY "strive for greatness" or whatever gung ho statement you want to support ... but quite another to actually DO it.

great programs have a good home court advantage. we don't. great programs have fan support. we don't. don't expect it unless everyone does their part and that includes fans.

That's a chicken and egg argument. Fans aren't going to waste their time and money to come support a bad team that doesn't do one exciting thing on the court. They just aren't.

Sometimes people need to look within themself to rise above it. If you made good grades in school was it a product of having a cheering section? I think not. Those who yearn to succeed will succeed.

He had very good talent on this team for the first three-plus months and they were dreadful. He deserves credit for the past 5 games, but he was also the man in charge for the first 25 games when they dug themselves a huge hole. He should have gotten more out of the team when they were healthy, and/or made the lineup changes even before injuries forced his hand.

Don't agree... This is simply a recruiting problem. Lon sucks at putting a team together. He usually has JUST ENOUGH local talent to get over the hump, but he sucks at putting a team together.

Blake Griffin, Trae Young, Doolittle, Manek... We have never relied so heavily on guys who grew up next door to the LNC to stay competitive. Look at the stats Ada posted though... losing records in the last 10 games against pretty much the entire league.

Do you want those guys? Absolutely. But his roster management in every other area totally sucks. He is thriving on people who grew up wanting to be Sooners, who would likely be Sooners if AdaSooner was the head coach, no offense to AdaSooner.

If he put a good team together, people would show up and some of those problems would take care of themselves.

That analogy does not compute. Kruger isn’t a great bench coach but we need more talent on the team. Kruger hasn’t done a good job of stocking talented guards so we are left with a couple guys with broke ass jump shots.

This is false. You have to invest in something On the front end for it to have any chance of flourishing.

Consider Chokie state football: they were a joke for a century until t Boone donated all those stacks. Since then they have been by far the 2nd best team in the conference and a perennial double digit wins team.

Wholly talking about crowd size here and not the individuals on the team.

That's a good argument for building a new basketball arena, let's get it done!

i don't think this is remotely true

Better record
Better conference record
Likely to finish season on a 6 game winning streak with a depleted roster
Per ESPN last night, now a lock for the NCAA Tournament

If we continue to have sorry crowds in front of recruits like manny o we won’t be signing them. We don’t buy players so we have to bring other things to the table like playing in front of a great crowd. Our crowd blows so we cant consistently land proper talent.

For those who tout recruiting class ratings our guys are pretty decent. Do they rival that of Duke or Kentucky? Clearly not and that is to continue. You think Dayton or San Diego State rate in the top 5 because of crowds?
