Shake to smu

I'm not sure on poyser. I hope we can get back in... We may not want back in..

I love that LK didn't promise him anything... It's all EARNED... Nothing is given.

Well, I guess LK will have to find another late bloomer that no one knows about.

Unfortunately, this has been LK's pattern over the years. Great coach and great man but not a great recruiter.

They invested a lot into getting Shake, I'm sure they are very disappointed.

I suspect that Kruger, like Stoops, does not put a lot of pressure on kids to make a decision when he recruits them which often results in a kid succumbing to pressure and going elsewhere. No consolation when you lose a kid you want but at least you can still sleep at night.

See ya. HAve fun winning nothing at SMU. OU doesn't need you. I wish you look but don't let the door hit you on your way to texas.

PS: Watch out for Ebola

Guys at the presser are tweeting Milton said he wants to play the point. Obviously, like CoachTalk posted, he can do that Day 1 at SMU but not OU with Woodard being just a junior.

Boo hoo. Having to play behind a junior? If you aren't willing to sacrifice by playing the two or a little less minutes for two years then we don't need you.

Anytime a coach "promises" you a starting position...I'd be very weery of that coach. WTH is he gonna "promise" the guy they recruit next year if he's better than you??? If they really did promise him a starting pg job then they are truly pathetic and desperate.

Few 17 year old kids have enough sense to realize that.

Yep, I had a feeling this was going to happen.

It isn't about promising him the pg spot at SMU as much as it is they don't/won't have a better player already there. OU will.

I also wonder, and I don't have all of the background on this, how much his deceased dad being a UT fan played into this? No offense, but if I was close to my father, who was a life long OU fan, and he passed, I probably wouldn't want to go to UT either, even if they were my best offer.

Oh well. Nothing you can do but move on, and get the next one. We sure wasted a lot of time on this kid though.

It wasn't bc OU didn't try... They were 1st to offer as a freshmen, he was on campus dozens of times, coach crutch was on him like a 1st son...

Didn't see this happening

So sick of losing these kind of players to out of state programs!!! Especially programs that haven't done $hit in years!!

Examples? Usually when we lose in state kids to out of state programs, they are almost definitely better programs. Not always, but generally.

You'd hope he'd have a coach or two, a parent, a pastor, and others who might be able to talk this stuff over him though.

I don't know if his dad was a Texas fan or not, but his dad DID play at Texas A&M...I have to believe that him wanting to play the point and not the 2 was part of the decision, and early playing time at the point was probably a big deal to him...

Too bad. I wanted him at OU, but I'm also sure we will fill the scholarship with another good player. Maybe not in the 1st recruiting period.

It was Shake's choice to make. Good luck to him. At this point he is history to me and I probably won't even think about him much after today. I sure won't be checking any box scores of SMU or Owasso.

He's gone and will soon be forgotten.

Anyone know who the next one might be? Very disappointing result...

Poyser. Or you guys know LK he'll find a booker or cousins the day before school starts..

well shoot, now I expect Tay Thomas to have his appeal denied... a real bummer, man...

I was honestly more upset when we lost "Tum Tum" Nairns to Michigan State last year than I am losing Shake. He was more of a pure point guard although Shake may be rated a little higher (he is bigger).

As CoachTalk pointed out, Kruger has shown that he can find good guards.

a decision like this typically tells me more about the player, and often they're doing us a favor. We were on the winning end of these at one point (see TMG, Tiny...)

Lon attracts the right kind of player. I don't get upset about these 'losses' because it's not Lon that is losing. Lon will get his.
