Shake to smu

when the SMU projections started trending the writing was on the wall i guess so not much of a shock factor. Good luck to the kid and on to finding the next sooners

Too bad for Shake. Larry Brown won't be around to see him play more than a season or two.

This may sound like sour grapes but selfish players don't usually make good point guards.

Woodard is better, and he will be here for 3 more seasons.

That's ample time to land his replacement.

Must have not been that good if SMU offered...eh...yeah...he probably really sucks...yep...sigh.

Too bad. I wanted him at OU, but I'm also sure we will fill the scholarship with another good player. Maybe not in the 1st recruiting period.

It was Shake's choice to make. Good luck to him. At this point he is history to me and I probably won't even think about him much after today. I sure won't be checking any box scores of SMU or Owasso.

He's gone and will soon be forgotten.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Oh, well. I didn't expect this bit of news when I logged in, but it will not take me long to get over the disappointment I feel. In fact, I'm over it now!

Time to move on to the next recruit on our list.

Posted on Sept 25th that I had heard SMU was leading. Wish I would have been wrong on this one. Shake's the real deal.

I have posted for a long time that SMU is the real threat not Illinois or Indiana. Of course people thought I was nuts. It is away from home but close enough to get home.

Has shake said why he chose SMU?

He probably thinks In one or two years he will be off the the NBA, Otherwise, just does not make sense going to a non-power 5 conference, especially with the two choices he had. Not to mention the additional benefits that may be coming with new found autonomy for the power5 schools.

At the end of the day, he is just another 6'5" kid, coaching staff will find an excellent replacement.

I hear what you're saying, but a 4.5-hour drive is not all that close. He won't be coming home often, and he might be disappointed by how often his family makes their way to Dallas.

He has family in Texas. Wouldn't surprise me if she isn't there a lot or moves to Dallas.

Kruger is a great coach and he can develop kids. But damn, he has yet to land a unanimous top 100 kid. Hield was at least ranked in Rivals top 100 and look how well he's turned out. So that proves Kruger can do more with higher ranked kids.

Losing a Oklahoma kid to SMU just blows. I understand them going to Arizona, Duke, Kansas but SMU. SMH

He was promised the team next year. Offense ran through him.

Come on, we don't know.

The kid wants to play pg. OU has a really good pg that would only be a junior when Shake got to school. I don't know SMU's exact roster situation, but they were planning on playing Mudiaye(sp) at pg this year. I doubt they found a replacement for him, so pg is probably wide open. Larry Brown doesn't have to promise Shake the starting job, for Shake to see that the starting job is likely his.

I'm sure Mudiaye could have named his spot too, then didn't even make it to school, off to Europe. You never know what these kids have in mind. A lot of these misses aren't really a miss. Lon's program will attract lots of great talent as we continue to have more and more success on the court. Book it!

Who cares about where this kid was ranked? What matters is Lon and the staff getting the right guys in and coaching them up. We didn't get Shake, oh well. Move on, and trust Lon.

How many times has Stoops pulled some under-recruited 2 or 3 star kid out of Texas right under UT's nose and within a few years, they're starting for OU as UT continues to flounder?
