Never thought I would say this but maybe it is time to kill the program if there are no performance requirements. Texas is going to destroy OU worse than Mulkey. Sherri is the worst coach on campus right now by far.

+1

Well at least future recruits will know who they will be playing for which is important, but since our recruiting has been so so that doesn’t really matter...

Sad to say but you may be right. I can think of no athletic program that is worse. However we cannot say much about the wrestling and soccer program. But Joe C. has taken action in soccer hiring Mark Carr in January. I don't know the status of wrestling coach Lou Rosselli (34-30 and 5-7 last year) but his job should be on the line soon although I expect Joe C. will give him 2 more seasons to turn his young team around.

The Coales can now take that family vacation

Just think going 20-40 overall and 9-27 in conference play warrants a four year extension. These are John Blake numbers (12-22 overall and 8-16 in conference play). Oops, I just insulted John Blake (RIP), his record was better than Sherri has been over the past two years. If this was Lincoln Riley, the "boy wonder" would be fired.

Mark Carr is the real deal. They will compete for the Big 12 title immediately. You don't coach Team USA 19U (the feeder to the Women's US National Team) in soccer and not be the real deal. Go look at the recruits and transfers, it is incredible. Roselli deserves a couple of more years, he inherited a "mess".

Sherri created her own current mess.

No question Rosselli (34-30, .531, & 2nd, 6th, 4th and 6th in the Big 12) inherited a mess but unfortunately as a season ticketholder I have seen very little team improvement since his arrival with his best team being his first team where he inherited most of his wrestlers.

I know he has very little to sell except himself as it has now been decades since OU has had a top national quality wrestling program although Jack Spates (243-97-12, .715) had several quality seasons and showed some consistency in team results. Dan Cody (55-34, .618 & 2nd, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd and 2nd in the Big 12) even had better results than has Rosselli. Most of that can be explained away by poor recruiting despite OU having tradition, facilities, money, etc. What they don't have is any fan support. As a season ticketholder my guess is most matches today average about 500 fans with maybe 1,500 for OSU because about 35-40% of the audience are aggies.

If things don't improve significantly in the next couple of years I think Rosselli is the wrong man for the job. I have difficulty with him losing to Northern Iowa 6-28 and Lehigh 3-28 in his 3rd season despite their being quality wrestling programs followed by loses to North Dakota State 15-24, South Dakota State 16-23 and Northern Iowa 13-25 in season 4.

Link is of an interesting article regarding OU that was in Pistols Firing in 2018. I think it is reasonably accurate.

I'm sorry but while I appreciate what Coale did for OU women's basketball, I cannot fathom her last few years resulting in a contract extension.

That makes zero sense, OU's program right now is awful under any measure.

Don't understand. Sherri seems to have let the game pass her by.

Still trying to win with small players.

Chronic poor defense.

Chronic turnover rate.

Lower shooting percentages than players ability. Half court offense consistently weak.

Add to that seemingly favoritism to some and doghouse to others.

Recruiting tons of guards and mostly projects for inside. Little apparent effort in recruiting.

Very bright charismatic person but doing the same things over and over.

Trying to unsuccessfully do the same thing year after year with the same type players make me want to question how bright she really is from a basketball perspective.

WTH is Joe C. thinking?!?! Surely there are Donors out there who are not happy about this and will put pressure on him. Texas hired one of the best coaches in the country after firing their coach who continually dominated Coale.

Texas gave him a 7 year contract worth 13.8 million dollars. When Castiglione hears of this, he will probably want to give Coale a raise.

No question Chris Del Conte's action hiring Vic was a statement by Texas that they are going to compete for the natty on an ongoing basis. That is something that Joe C. made a decision not to do several years earlier.
