I liked hearing the story of Gabbi's recruiting. Sherri was at an AAU game to see someone else that ended up at Notre Dame and saw Gabbi and immediately wanted to coach her. Apparently was told that she had a 5-school short list and planned to stay close to home... nevermind
It was about the same story for recruiting D-Rob, if I recall correctly. Sherri had a big list of guards she was at a tournament to see and was constantly crossing names off the list, but then noticed speedy D-Rob running everywhere and wanted her at OU.
James Hale was much kinder than everyone here (myself included) on how the season went/ended. Sherri herself admitted that they underachieved. She didn't throw seniors under the bus exactly by naming names, but said there was a lack of leadership.
Also said that it was not to Vegas' discredit, but that they planned to have more even point distribution going forward, rather than the scoring burden falling on one player next year.
Also said that they would like to sign "a big" during late signing period.
My feed cut out a bit at the beginning so I hope I didn't miss anything of note. It's done now, probably going to take a bunch of football calls shortly
My impression of Hale's post on his own board was that he wasn't particularly kind at all. I thought he took Sherri to task.
Derica's brother is the student trainer or something. Would they both be leaving? I never have understood the Gibbs situation. Shaya as a disappointment? I thought the biggest disappointment on the team was, well, I won't say.
Penzo as a four at 5-9? Maybe she's grown an inch. I guess if Nina Davis can do it at 5-11.
I don't think that there is any doubt that something was a disappointment. I don't know if anyone knows what, including Sherri. The key to the scoring mentality and the presence of leadership was exhibited several times this year. When we were tied with West Virginia, Texas, Louisville, Iowa State, and DePaul, who stepped up to score the winning points? Who could we count on to make it happen in crunch time? I have seen several comments that Gioya made mistakes that cost us the DePaul (and Louisville) game. But, when you have three firmly entrenched seniors who have scored 1000 points each and a good scorer like Sharane, shouldn't one of them be making that winning play? Why was it Gioya that had to try to do something? Winning teams are defined by having those players who step up when it is time to deliver.
I don't know that you can blame it on anyone. It's like the old song about the rattlesnake biting the girl. "You knew that I was a snake." We are what we are. But, we just didn't have that player who stepped up to win the big game for us. In two of the big games that were close, our star scorer didn't even play. But, how many games this year could have been won by one basket at the right time? When it was crunch time, DePaul came back from five down and hit the three. Why was it that we lost every one of those games?
I like hot sauce, sugar, and a hint of vinegar (although I can't eat the sugar any more). But, I don't know that if I mixed them they would be all that good. Something happened after Jo left that kept the mix from stirring properly. Instead of being the type of team that upset the ACC champions in the Round of 32 (Miami), we lost that type of game. I just don't know what to do with the ingredients that we had. Maybe, it is just time for some new ingredients.
He congratulated her on her success this season at the end of the interview, if I recall correctly. Based on recent posts here, I would say that most of us wouldn't congratulate on anything this year, and would probably stop at "thank you for the interview"My impression of Hale's post on his own board was that he wasn't particularly kind at all. Perhaps I've heard Al and Jim too much on Sports Animal, so maybe that's why I thought the interview was nice and tame

Spot on what everyone has said.
When you consider Mo is hanging around to be assistant strength coach, when Sherri talks about lack of leadership this season, you know almost have to acknowledge she's talking about Vegas and Griffin, perhaps Durrett some (for maybe not trying hard enough in practice or something).
I think there was something going on between Vegas and Sherri or the other coaches and players. It's just a hunch. No proof. Vegas has never been a vocal leader so that fits in a bit with what Sherri has been saying. There are a few things that could easily be misconstrued, but I think, perhaps, Vegas was tired of Sherri and the program.
ViVi is scheduled to be cleared in October, as reported. I couldnt tell for certain, but I agree with previous poster who said Sherri's clear intent was that she couldn't afford to redshirt her, even if she didn't see significant floor action until late. I'm betting she won't get any serious floor time until February.
That entire big thing doesn't spell good things for Gibbs and Kellog. I wonder if this is the indication that Kellog may be the possible transfer, especially since Sherri indicated she wants another big in this class.
If Norman is right, Gibbs has to leave because of grades -- or the coaches changed their minds about keeping her around (she wasn't counting against the scholarship limit anyway was she?).
I think, and it's just a gut hunch that the transfer is Kellog or Wyatt -- if there is one. Edwards is a lesser possibility, I think because she's more a Hartman type player who could see valuable time because of that.
Yep, my money is on Kellog and/or Wyatt. I think Wyatt because all she's going to do over the next two years is faller deeper and deeper down the depth chart. I don't think Kellog is going to get much of a chance based on what I've seen with other bigs. Think Jeffcoat, Zander and Cloman.
I defintley agree with that statement; I thought I was alone on that one. I remeber in one of the post game conferences either Sherri or Morgan were asked about Vegas going into the next game and Sherri responded "if she can't get ready, the rest of us wil be." Then Morgan said something about being in every game and the interview went on.
I believe Wyatt will end up transferring. I remember someone posting about her being homesick. Wouldn't shock me.
