OKLAHOMA CITY—Former Oklahoma State men’s basketball player Stevie Clark is suing Oklahoma State University, the Board of Regents for the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical Colleges, and OSU men’s basketball coach Travis Ford, claiming he was forced to take psychotropic drugs.
Clark sued the parties on Wednesday in Oklahoma County Court.
Clark, represented by Kenyatta Bethea with Holloway Bethea in Oklahoma City, seeks actual and punitive damages for violation of due process, assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, breach of fiduciary duty, and negligence, according to court reports.
Clark played for OSU during the 2013-14 season as a freshman and was dismissed from the team in February 2014 after he was arrested on a complaint of outraging public decency after a police officer claimed he urinated out of the window of a moving car. Earlier in the year, Clark was suspended four games after being arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana in January. Clark claims in the petition that his teammates scapegoated him when marijuana was found in his room.
Clark became frustrated with Ford in November 2013, claiming “Ford had no intentions of keeping his promises” made to Clark during recruiting, according to the petition.
"Various promises were made with regard to playing time and ensuring that Stevie made it to the next level," the petition states. "Travis Ford even promised Stevie a Camaro."

I'd like to know what the promises were...

We know Travis couldn't promise him a way to make him taller!

Well, Stevie said Travis promised him a car:

the petition states. "Travis Ford even promised Stevie a Camaro."

Wouldn't it be interesting to read that petition so we know everything Stevie was promised?

1. Stevie wasn't forced to take drugs.
2. Stevie chose to take drugs.
3. Stevie is still on drugs.

Sooooo glad he ended up a Poke and not a Sooner...complete headcase and waste of space...he needs to just accept that the only person responsible for his failure is himself.

"Assault and battery??????"

Seriously? I'd like to hear the basis for that allegation.

I would think that if Ford assaulted Clark, Stevie would've gone all Latrell Sprewell on him.

I wonder what proof Stevie has of the promises? Are we to take his word for it?

He seeks actual and punitive damages for violation of due process, assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, breach of fiduciary duty, and negligence, according to court reports. Clark claims in the petition that his teammates scapegoated him when marijuana was found in his room. Clark faced “hazing and disrespect” from teammate Marcus Smart, according to the petition.

The only other charge left out of the lawsuit was OSU failed to provide Stevie an adequate bathroom which forced him to urinate out the window of a moving car.

Just another irresponsible kid who threw his own opportunity in the trash and now blaming everyone else for it.

Remember the Jon Lucas article from several years ago, he basically said in regards to Stevie, "denial," as in he took zero responsibility for himself.

Ill tell you for fact those drugs found in his room were Marcus smarts. I said that after it happened. Someone else can look back for it.

Now the rest of this is just crazy talk

I remember that being said at the time...... I just didn't remember who said it. I can't see a kid being "scapegoated" for using weed when so many kids use it. Maybe because he got caught with it.

I swear if Stevie messes this up for us I'll be so pissed! Ford has been a hell of a friend to the University of Oklahoma. Helping OU to many wins in Bedlam with his idiotic coaching.

What a waste. This kid was sensational in high school and had the skills to have a great career.

I wonder if the NCAA has a copy of the lawsuit. Hopefully the promise was verbal with no witnesses. I would hate to see Ford go.

On the other hand, it'd be hilarious to see the "spin" by Poke boosters and their media buddies if the talk of a car "inducement" starts to gets louder. We already know the drill on that with both groups: (A) "only the Gooners cheat, and (B) "we're skeptical of the charges," unless they come from an erstwhile OU recruit.

Ford probably told him, "if you work really hard, get a degree, or move on to the next level, you'll have a car"

and Clark took that as a promise to give him a car. That's the way people think that don't take responsibility for their own actions and lives and play the "blame game".

It is public record. You can probably access it on line. Go to the county and see what you can find. I know the county I live in and practice law in, you can find this stuff.

What if he wins and proves Ford promised a car. He performed. The contract itself would not be illegal, just an NCAA violation. Ford should be ordered to purchase him a car. When he complies with the court order, it is a major violation. That would be an interesting conundrum.

Clark alleges that Marcus Smart hazed him; that must have been part of Smart's "intangibles".
