These are quotes from Carter's juco coach via a Gonzaga site.

"Marquise Carter is a great 1 on 1 player. He is best in transition. He has another gear. He is a scoring PG that can handle the ball and is very cool under pressure. He handles traps/double teams well. He plays really well off ballscreens. He wants the ball at the end of the game and at the end of the shot clock. He has a very good mid-range game. He is good at runners and floaters. He shoots enough 3 pointers to keep the defense honest. He loves challenges. He has a sneaky game. His 3 point shot looks like an old set shot, but he is great off the fake and drive by."

"He visited Wichita St. early. He will visit Oklahoma & Gonzaga. He has interest from Baylor, Michigan, DePaul, & others. I don't know for sure, but somebody said that North Carolina called him. Coach Few came in and watched Marquise play against State Fair on Feb. 6th after their afternoon game at Memphis."

"Marquise is a 2 time All-American. He red-shirted his first year at our school in which we finished 4th at the National Tournament. Three Rivers record is 58-12 in his 2 seasons. He averages 17.9 pts., 4.3 reb., 5.4 ast., 1.4 st., 39.1% of his 3's, 84.6% of his free throws. We finished 2nd in the Nation. We lost to Howard, TX in the championship game 85-80 in overtime. Marquise had 35 pts. and made 3-5 on 3's. He was named to the All Tournament Team at the National Tournament in Hutchinson, KS."

We could definitely use him. 35 points in a championship game tells me that he can raise his game when the pressure is on.

I was unsure if we could use him when I thought tmg was coming back...because I didnt think their games would mesh together...but I def think we need him now.

He may have had 35 points but check the stats. I think he was 11 for 35 from the field, or something close to that.

I still think he is a good recruit, though!! We can most definitely use him!!

Andrea Riley!!!!

Realistically his role probably won't be a scorer, but more of a table setter.

I don't care about stats at this point. I want to hear about how much time he spends in the gym, how much time he spends with his teammates, the hours he puts in at study hall, and what other people say about being around him.

Right now, it's about building an institutional culture of teamwork and winning, rather than basketball skills.

In watching the film, that's the part of the game I noticed he had a problem area with. He didn't handle screens well, he didn't post the screener and slide through. He switched alot on screens and went under alot of screens. You will get killed in the Big12 doing that. Just ask Drew Lavender. Just asked TMG. He will be and upgrade defensively. He's coachable.
