Sooners beat Tech

I know some people have said they wished Sherri was more vocal with the officials and I can understand that to a certain extent. But, I don't think Curry does her team any favors being so vocal about calls.

Some coaches complain all the time such as Tubbs, Sampson. Summit, etc. I don't think it helps when coaches complain that much but obviously they must think it helps.

We get either OSU or WV. If WV wins, we get OSU. If WV loses, we get WV.

Jo, Vegas, and Nicole came up huge. Griffin had a double-double, almost a triple double. She had 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 blocks!!!! She even had four assists.

Jo's threes were huge.

Vegas came alive in the second half and hit some threes.

Really proud of the gals holding it together on the road and coming away with a true dog fight. Nice contributions from all the gals.

I get the feeling that right now the team is winning on sheer guts. Bravo to turning things around when faced with literally their darkest hour as a team.

A team with character can occasionally surprise by doing what seems impossible. With a three seed, OU now has a legit chance to reach the conference title game, and who really knows for sure what could happen then?

I think it's safe to say that you can toss Charlie Creme's prediction of a 12-seed in the dumpster now. The Sooners definitely won't be playing a top seed if they reach the NCAA second round, and even playing a 2-seed is highly unlikely now.

How about Jaz? She was a surprise starter tonight, and matched

What a GREAT photo! That one's definitely going into my wallpaper folder.

I thought it was classy that Maddie, Whitney, Lyndsey, and Kaylon were all dressed out in their road uniforms on the bench. Great team spirit. Loved it.

I swear that when I clicked on the ESPN box score link, they sent me to the box for the KU game.

No wonder the stats looked so similar.

Jasmine played 11 mins and didn't score. Sheesh!

:(

You had me confused.

I watched this game and I still can't figure out how we won. Great job ladies you won even when you didn't play great.

I predicted we would lose both of the last two games because I knew they were going to very tough to win and I thought the girls were just drained emotionally and physically.

Thought we had a better chance of winning at home against KU.

In both games, however, the girls gutted it out and turned in two all-around solid performances against teams that really are equal or only a half step below us right now.

I think this bodes well for us in the Big12 and Big Dance. I can't think of a team that has had as rough a road as OU has this year. ISU is close, but to lose 3 critical players and to find a way to win the way Sherri and these girls have is outstanding.

When you have a bench that is so thin that every foul could lead to disaster, the fact that we just finished third in the Big Twelve, the toughest conference according to rpi, becomes incredible. When we get three quick fouls on Sharane, who should have been the sixth man, you wish that you had a Whitney Hand, a Maddie Manning, a Lindsey Cloman, or a Kaylon Williams to bring off the bench until Kornet and Durrett become experienced enough to count on. We were fortunate in that Kornet has been growing up the past few games, and she did a good job of replacing Sharane, especially defensively.

I wasn't very comfortable after last week that we could handle Kansas. But, we did rather strongly. I felt much better about Tech. As Tango and YCN have said, we have performed pretty well against Tech. I think it's a style thing. But, it took a good effort.

The key is that we have been getting that effort from Nicole and Jo. We just need for Vegas to awaken at some point during the game. It helps if we can get some drives from Morgan. But, Griffin has been playing great defense, and Jo has been tough on the boards.

Just take a look at the Big Twelve statistics. Jo is the leader in rebounds at 11.1. Griner and Young come in at 9.7, a bit behind. OU is #3 (Vegas), #17 (Griffin), #19 (Jo), #22 (Sharane), and #24 (Hook) in scoring. That's pretty fair balance. All five starters in the top 24?

Morgan is #4 in assists and #2 in free throw percentage. Jo is #11. Jo (#5) and Nicole (#11) are among the leaders in field goal percentage. Vegas finished #3 in three point percentage and #1 in most three pointers. Nicole was #5 in blocked shots. Morgan was #6 in A/T ratio.

This was a team effort, and everyone was an asset. That is a bunch of pretty fair basketball players.

Should we be surprised that they finished third?

Nicole Kornet gave us some good minutes.

I think Nicole has improved quite a bit over the course of the season. She doesn't play much but she's finally been able to hit her shot and she looks much more comfortable on the court when she's in the game. I think she's really going to be a valuable player over the next few years.
