I just re-watched the game. Spangler won't get a lot of ink because of what Buddy and Cousins did, but I'd argue Ryan was a co-MVP today. There's a reason Simmons didn't do much. Spangler's defense on him was outstanding. Throw in a strong rebounding game and some clutch shots, and I'd put Spangler's game right up there with Buddy and Isaiah.

Hit some huge 3s and we tried to get inside a little bit to him.. i liked that

Stats aren't everything and I know both Spangler and Simmons both impact their teams in ways that don't show up on the box score, but the fact that Spangler outscored AND outrebounded Simmons is incredibly impressive to me.

Everyone billed this game as "Buddy vs. Ben" but they don't guard each other at all! I was viewing the key matchup as Ben vs. Ryan and Ryan won. A very very major kudos to the big man.

Might be Ryan's best game in a few weeks. Great job!

I agree. Everybody was talking about LSU's length but OU out-rebounded them by 1 and Ryan was the leading rebounder in the game. That's the Spangler we've become accustomed to over the past 3 years.

He looked less tentative out there. More confident.

Agreed. But even if you take away his solid offensive game, the work Spangler did on defense and the boards was unbelievably impressive. A big reason why Simmons looked so "passive" is because Spangler just wouldn't let him get the ball in the post. I think it was a big key to the game.

Ryan kept us in that game to allow the Buddy Love show to happen....

Our backup postmen that some of you want to play over Ryan were bad. If Ryan can get healthy, our team will go far in tournament.

Am I the only one who has noticed that Ryan is winning most of the tips to start the games this season? If I remember correctly, he lost a lot more than he won last season. Not that it means anything, except his timing has improved. I haven't noticed a marked improvement in his vertical.

I noticed that too. You would almost think Lattin would jump for OU but Spangler is really good at.

He wins 80% of them. It's amazing. It's a shock when he loses one like yesterday. He just jumps early and the refs let it go.

KUDO's to Ryan for a great game.....I love the way he rebounds EVERY time!!! He will be missed next year!!!

I got a text during the game, seems like his legs are fresh again.
