Status of Program

You are trying to make a point on a technicality. Somewhere, you seemed to miss that you are defending a Bachelors and Masters from OU against a B.S. and Ph.D. You seem to be concerned about the past fifty years, whereas my association began back in the Lester Lane, Tommy McDonald era. I had season tickets to all sports at OU every year I lived within a hundred miles of Norman, and I subscribed to the Norman and Oklahoma City newspapers by mail when I lived in Europe to keep up with OU. It extends beyond time and borders.

Now, if you actually had good things to say about OU, either of you,, I might not wonder why you claimed to be a fan.
Ok, we get it. You are a bigger OU fan than any other person on the planet. Move on.

Don't challenge the great and powerful Syb. He is an authority on everything.

Womens and for that matter men's attendance is dropping but not just here. But since both are non revenue producing sports the admin doesn't care. It's the paid seats that matter- men's season tickets are sold out except a few exceptions, there are seats around me that no one ever sits in.
My bona fide's- Season ticket holder football 1973-86 and 91-present
Mens and women's season tickets, softball season tickets. Lifelong sooner fan, used to die every october growing up when we always lost to texas(the early 60's)
Clinically depressed for 3 weeks after Billy fumbled at the husker 3 Thanksgiving 1978

The women's program peaked when we went undefeated in conference when CP3 was here. Sherri either doesn't recognize or doesn't care, that she needs to recruit more athletic players, the era of the slow white girl who could shoot is over. You can recruit athletes who are good citizens- just look at softball and gymnastics. We have some on the team already, just not enough. We won't catch baylor or texas unless she changes or retires. I love her to death for all she is and has done but thats how it is.

You are spot on. She is smart enough to recognize that the game has changed. I think she is satisfied with the program the way it is and keep on drawing the million dollar plus paycheck each year. Maybe been here too long.

You guys that are jealous of her making a lot of money make me laugh. I get it. She's a woman - you think women should not make decent money so they can be kept under your control. Sorry guys. The world is changing.

Instead of letting your jealousy make you keep posting about your insecurities get up from your computer and go make some money yourself.

I don't exactly agree. I picture him as a drooling old fool that is locked away in a mental hospital that has internet access.

I certainly don't agree with you Gary, but that did make me laugh.

While I think Syb is a pretty professional guy, I do sometimes wonder what is going in the lives of some of out posters.

Sherri needs to be the OU coach and she needs to be well paid for the marketplace which is a lot of money. I just contend they make her compensation more incentive and less guarantee.

Cut her guarantee from $1.1 mil and a $300K bonus to as an example $900,000 guarantee. That is not chicken feed for sure. Pay her with a bonus program similar to the following. Geno and M. Mitchell would be the only coaches known for certain to have a higher guarantee. Possible for Muffett, Tara and Kim to also have higher guarantees but they have won more on the court. Mitchell is a an anomaly. But Kentucky is Kentucky when it comes to basketball.

------------------------------------------Bonus------Total Comp.
Make the NCAA tournament.............. $50,000..........$950,000
Win 1st round game........................$50,000........$1,000,000
Win 2nd round game, make S16.........$75,000........$1,075,000
Win S16, make EE...........................$75,000.......$1,150,000
Win EE, make FF............................$100,000.......$1,250,000
Make Champ. game........................$100,000.......$1,350,000
Win Championship..........................$200,000.......$1,550,000
Win Conference Championship............$50,000.......$1,600,000
Win Tournament Championship............$50,000.......$1,650,000

Have a season where you win a conference championship and the tournament championship and make the S16. Total comp would be $1,175,000. Win one conference championship and make the second round compensation would be $1,050,000.

Spock, you're making waaaayyyyy too much sense with this. I agree with Syb, Ty and Sweetest (no joke) that SC is the person for the job. I believe that because the things she does well, she does really well. IMHO, the things she does NOT do well are overseeing/managing the following: recruiting, player skill development (all positions). I also think she might be a micro manager and might not be open to change. There is also something still really weird regarding the void of a camp. The assistant coach, Stacy Hansmeyer, that was the most successful (recruiter in CA for Paris', DRob, AO) with recruiting under SC is no longer there. That is even more strange than the absence of a camp. We all know that SC is very loyal to her assistants. SHansmeyer was not only her assistant but her former high school player. Why would she leave all the sudden and she's still training players and holding camps? Go figure.

I agree with your idea of how salary should be broken down at this point in her career at OU considering lack of production on the court/NCAA tourney.
