I posted one of these video clips to the Scouting Report thread, but I think it deserves a thread of it's own. They say a picture is worth 1000 words so you guys can see TaShawn Thomas' game for yourself. The first clip is a highlight of a game against Rice last December. I was at the game because OU played A&M in the 2nd game of the double-header in Houston. He is #35.

TaShawn Thomas: Houston vs Rice highlights 12/21/2013

The second clip is a short interview and some highlights called a Player Profile on Thomas:

TaShawn Thomas Player Spotlight

Thomas played consistently well last season. He had 2 good games against UConn who won the NCAA championship, so the guy plays well against quality competition.

If there was any doubt about the type of player OU is getting in Thomas, these highlight videos will erase them. He's obviously a tough, physical player with the size and skills to match. I love his game!

Am I the only one who gets excited at the thought of seeing Thomas and Spangler on the floor at the same time? It may not be until next year when they will be seniors. But it will still be something to look forward to even if we have to wait to see them in the same lineup. Assuming Lattin and McNeace are good enough to perform at a high level as sophomores, OU could easily have one of the best front courts in the Big 12.

From seeing the video on him, if he can get the work in that Osby and Spangler did in their season off, he has a chance to have a fantastic SR season. I imagine him as a bigger more athletic Lonny Baxter, the big off that NC Maryland team or Sean May from Carolina. I think he has a big impact on this team over the next 2 seasons.

I agree. I think they will be an awesome duo in 2 years. If Thomas doesn't play next season, then Buford will get a lot of experience which will make the rotation even deeper, especially if Lattin and McNeace add some bulk.

The Spangler Thomas wall will be a rebounding mecca. Our outside shooters sure won't hesitate to put up the ball.

Many times in the highlight videos, he has to adjust his shot to get the ball in the hole, and he does a nice job of doing so.

Was the Houston Coach fired?

I like what I see (and I hope we don't have to wait a year to see him again, wearing crimson and cream).

But man, that arena was empty -- UConn comes to town and they can't draw more than a few hundred people? I know we have our own attendance issues, but we do a heckuva lot better than that if we played UConn.

This kid seems to have a really good feel offensively from the low block up to the elbow. The jumper he hit looked smooth and confident, it looks like he can drive it if need be, so I think he would be good in pick and roll situations. He also seems to really handle himself well posted up. Made a nice pass to an open shooter out of a double team. Very excited.

so if Thomas dont get the waiver we will only have 1 scholly for 2015? and 5 for 2016?

Both gaurds more then likely?

1 will definitely be a guard, but we will still take Manyang or another quality big if we can get them.

Assuming Thomas doesn't get a waiver, we'd be losing 3 guards and 2 bigs in 2016, so we'd still take help at both spots.

Really wish Cole would decide he'd rather actually play at a small school. Having that scholarship used on a glorified walk-on for the next 3 years is going to be really frustrating.

True, but it's also really tough these days to have 13 talented guys on scholarship. That means somebody isn't playing, and kids don't like that. Be curious to look at Duke and Kentucky, and see who their 12th and 13th scholarships are used on, or how often they transfer.

This makes me laugh because of your screen name.
