70-61 to Wake Forest.

3-3 with losses to Wake Forest, Depaul, and Indiana State.

I bet Billy G is glad that Old Spice Tournament is over.

But but but I thought Gillispie was a GRAND SLAM hire and it was a colossal mistake for us not to pursue him???

Not saying he won't, I just think it's funny how drastically perceptions can change over the course of just half a year. I remember some people on here that were ready to call the suicide hotline after we passed on Gillispie and Tech hired him. I wonder if they still feel the same way today?

He will win at Tech.

Not with this year's team. They're not very good, bigabd. Neither is the team that beat them tonight. I think it's likely Wake Forest will finish in the bottom third of the ACC this season.

I think Billy G will win eventually, but unless you're an energizer bunny (like Lon seems to be since arrival), it takes time to build a fan connection, recruiting in-roads et al.

I have a friend who played at Tulsa. He ran into BCG in an airport over the summer. He asked him how his team looked and BCG said, "We suck." My friend laughed and said, "Nice coachspeak." BCG looked at him again and said, "I'm not joking, we have one or two Big12 caliber players."

Early October, BCG had an all-university try out hoping to find some hidden gems. That is never an encouraging sign. If they win 4, he needs serious consideration for coach of the year in the Big12.

Several posters have looked at the quantity, not quality, of recruits he is bringing in at Tech. They say things like "BCG is cleaning up." I disagree. I say he is sandbagging Tech with as many marginal Big XII players as he can possibly sign. He is hoping that enough will pan out and the rest will wander off. It is a volume shooter philosophy. If it works, fine. If not, well you can't ruin a program that wasn't very good to begin with.

If he can win at eATMe he can win anywhere. The pitiful shape Pat Knight left that program in is surprising to me.
