The Capel System

I too try to stay as optimistic as i can. I knew this was going to be a tough year, but i had hoped some players would show enough to make me believe that the future would be okay. Right now that hope is dwindling fast. As someone mentioned in a post above Capel has been a pour evaluator of character. Capel has to adopt a bit of what allowed Sampson to win here. Get the tough blue collar players who you can yell at and coach up, and better yet the players that can take it and become better for it. I am sick of the AAU kids who are soft and expect the world to be handed to them....Get me some Najera's, Heskett's, Erdmann's, Price's, ect plug in the right JUCO's when needed... and things can get better but time is running out for Capel to get this done...

If you didn't see this coming the moment WW, Tiny & TMG left, when we had to sign players from tiny Islands in the west indies, unknown junior colleges in Utah, programs that were dropping D1 basketball, when pre season articles were pegging Cade Davis as our MVP ... then you were just fooling yourself.

To act surprised and outraged now is not rational. It's just as much fun as a fan to watch a team rebuild as it is to see the finished product. Look for the positives.

In addition to all the above issues, his game management is questionable at best. Looked up yesterday(yes I was there) with just over 10 min to play in the game, when we are getting run ragged, and the same five guys that started the second half are still in, having played the whole time.

Boca, I've been a pretty big Jeff Capel supporter, and have criticized several for their "revisionist theory" posts and threads. However, you really can't blame anyone for being outraged that things have completely spiraled out of control the past 14 months. A traditionally top 25 basketball program should never fall this far down.

Jeff MUST bring in two more players next year who can immediately contribute at almost any BCS school.

Fair enough. But let's see what the product is next year before we rush to judgement prior to a season for all these new guys to gain experience and a full recruiting year to plug the holes.

If we are not significantly better next year with more recruits signed to plug remaining holes I will agree it's time to make a change. But it's just as likely IMO that we will be significantly improved.

If you have inferior talent do you want more possessions or fewer possessions? Which gives you a better chance to keep it close and win?

Really? Inferior talent must play at a slower pace to win. I suspect Billy tubbs, Jerry Tarkanian and Paul Westhead would all disagree. It is a system that is needed not any particular system. Really good coaches have plans to deal with teams that want to trap or slow it down or whatever.

FIFY

We were the 2nd best program, hands down.

We might have been, i was just going with all time big 12 conferece records and we were 3rd, either way we are now last so we went from top 3 to very bottom
