The NBA Playoffs/Thunder/Blake Thread

I'm sandbagging! Still a long ways to go!!

Here's a scary thought. Put Durant with Wall & Beal in his hometown DC in a couple years.

Or if presti could have made the harden for beal deal work

Ran into a buzzsaw last night, Clips are a solid offensive team.

Lets see what you got Brooks.

A great set of videos. What a great young man KD is

He's so humble. I'm curious if this will be why he may not ever win a title. Does he have the drive that other greats had?

Sure he does. There is no way you can get as hood as him without constant drive. Remember the same thing was said about Lebron not winning a title. Bottom line, it's damn hard to win a title before you're in your late 20s. There are other kings of the hill positioned ahead of you.

KD will win a title. It remains to be seen if he does it in OKC or has to make a change. Even Dirk eventually got his without leaving Dallas.

I heard the same thing on the radio here in LA yesterday. Durant has been good for so long people act like he should have a title by now. History says he should not have a title by now. Jordan & Shaq were 28 and Lebron was 27. Very rare for guys like Duncan or D-Wade to be a finals MVP caliber before 25 years old and Magic is in a league of his own.

How big of a turd does the person responsible for the "Mr. Unreliable" headline feel like after listening to Mr. Class yesterday accepting his MVP? lol

I still have no probably with Mr. Unreliable because at the time it was written, KD wasn't reliable in the series....which is what the headline and article were about

Probably not at all. Their job is to be a pot stirrer.
Like I said elsewhere, if KD played in a major market, that would be one of the nicest headlines he'd ever see about himself.

Freaking Derek Jeter gets negative headlines in the New York press.

There is a difference in saying he has struggled in the series or has been unreliable in the series and calling him Mr. Unreliable.

Well nobody ever said he was unreliable other than in this series. Problem is that people didn't read the article.

I agree that it was poorly chosen but it was accurate at the time.

Plus winning a title has a lot to do with your surrounding cast. There are several really good players that have not won a title.

Making declarations of "reliability" based on a 5 game sample size that runs completely contrary to the guys previous 50+ playoff games (when he'd been absolutely fantastic) was just beyond belief stupid. And may as well say 4 game, since he played well in game 1.

So, the period of time over which he played poorly, a label of "reliable" or "unreliable" didn't even make contextual sense.

I have a feeling the Clips/Thunder series is going the full 7 games. Both teams are fairly even. Neither team plays great defense for the entire game. I think San Antonio wins the West though.

You still don't get it. It's not hard. It made perfect sense in the span of four games. He was missing free throws, missing put backs, missing open shots. He wasn't reliable at all

The headline did by saying Mr.

As if that was his new nickname/mantra/persona. Mr. is giving him a title.

That doesn't make him Mr. Unreliable.

Your argument is the headline didn't match the article. That's what everyone else is saying, too.

I mean, I guess they could have said "In this Series, Mr. Unreliable".

I already said it was stupid but it doesn't bother me and don't know why it bothers so many.

Point of a headline is to grab attention and make you read the article. and if the article was read, the headline would have been confirmed. Obviously the headline was a failure though because people didn't read the article.
