The NCAA Tournament Thread

Add the lane violation call as well. Syracuse needs to send the refs a thank you basket for this victory.

Lane violation was the correct call.

Really good night cap, even though I had WSU and UNLV. Don't think I've seen a team this year play more of an undisciplined game than UNLV did tonight against CU...unbelievable.

Shaka has basically punched his ticket to Champaign, can name his price and the Illini boosters will pay it.

LBSU is not a 12 seed, should have been an 11 or 10...but props to UNM, they are going to be tough for a Louisville team that struggles to score.

Agreed.

Young. Energetic. But composed. You don't see him rolling balls to refs, and talking about Jay Z in his interviews. Hopefully he'll go somewhere after VCU where I can still root for him and his team.

Capel was young. he was energetic. And my favorite moment of his was rolling the ball to the ref. And almost everybody on this board thought tit was a good thing that he could relate to players.

I understand not liking capel, but not for the reasons you listed

But he couldn't relate to the players so why do you say he could? 10-15 guys transferred or left the program because Capel could not relate to the players. Liking Jay Z is not relating to the players. Relating to the players is building long term relationships and having a positive influence in their lives.

I guess he relates to Harrison Barnes but they guy flatly couldn't relate to the players at OU.

you are missing the point. People liked that he listened to jayz b/c we thought that it made him relate...that line was thrown out all the time.

And I think he did relate to a lot of his players. And obviously he is still friends with Blake.

You may have thought that and other children may have thought that but I thought his choice in music was irrelevant to his relationships with the players. I thought the most telling sign of his relationships with the players was his inability to maintain relationships with the majority of players based on the number of kids that left the program.

Jeff Capel most certainly did not excel at human relationships with young people because he could not get them to follow his lead.

No, he suffered from poor character evaluations.

Is Capel in EVERY thread on here??? I mean geez. Just start a pinned topic called Capel Debate.

North Mexico sucking azz. NC State playing well and 'Bama/Creighton is a tight one so far. I saw 'Bama at the holiday tourney here and was impressed with their athleticism.

Wonder if the NCAA is worried about all the empty seats at these first round venues, Greensboro isn't close to full and north Carolina is playing

With all the TV coverage now there is very little reason to go. You can watch any game you want at home for free.

Capel was young, but I wouldn't call him energetic. Always seemed kind of lethargic to me. Like I said, compare him to a Shaka Smart. If you liked the rolling the ball moment, good for you. To me, it showed that we had an immature coach.

My point about the Jay Z stuff being silly isn't that Capel liked him. Heck, I like Jay Z. Enough that I saw him in concert in Dallas about 5 years ago. That said, my problem with it is that Capel used that, publicly, as a way to seem cool. I bet Shaka Smart likes rap music, but you don't see him talking about it publicly.

So you thought sampson and billy tubbs were immature?

Why are you so attached to Capel? He did a bad job at OU, it really isn't debatable. Tubbs and Sampson did good jobs at OU. That also isn't really debatable. Capel will bounce back and probably be a better coach based on his experience at OU.

Don't be surprised if SF gives Temple a game tonight too. They defend REALLY well. The question will be can they control the pace, and score enough.
