First, Lon's teams have always played WVU better than most. Several reasons, but in my opinion, mostly because he allows and promotes the transition 3. WVU presses hard, guards the rim and counts on their opponents backing it out in the half, when they break the press but don't get an easy basket. at the rim Lon's teams freely shoot the transition 3 and don't care if they can get to the rim.
Second, with trae, we should be better than usual at dealing with their pressure. Particularly if the officials don't let them straddle the leg of the offensive player (new rule this year).
As for trae's hand slapping mentioned in another thread, IMO, the officials will not call "hand fighting" between players if they allow the hand checking and arm bars to go on. Or, they won't allow the physical prevention of movement. In other words, I think they normally call it one way or the other. Lon and OU are respected and no reason to believe they won't be treated fairly. Called either way we should be fine. Trae just knows how to prevent the use of hands and arms to restrict his movement. He will be allowed that if they start physically checking him, at least he has to this point. Otherwise, your saying he can't swat away someone kicking him in the groin -- without fouling. Silly notion that I have never seen an official condone.
WVU is a terrific team and we might get beat, but it wouldn't surprise me if we won. Expect the game to look much like the first half against Okie state.
