Travis Ford

is such a baffoon and a baby. I almost feel bad for OSU's fanbase that they have that guy representing them in basketball. His act on the sideline is embarrassing and sad.

Why feel bad? Be happy for the fanbase -- they found their soulmate! He's a perfect fit for that institution and its supporters, right down to his orange sports jacket -- a match made in heaven.

The orange sport jacket really does "tie the room together".

WT,

My point is that I never heard other fanbases think that Jeff Capel was a baby or a baffoon. Kelvin was very animated on the sideline but I never thought of him as a baffoon (maybe a baby at times) or bubbling idiot (and he could flat-out coach).

Travis is that way ALL THE TIME from the superlatives he uses to describe his players I'm the media (Sidorkus the "one of the best 6th men in the county", to over recruiting/running off players that he recruited and them constantly using the excuse of being young, to his antics on the sideline (we won't go there with his shady recruiting) - the guy is a baffoon. He is what he called Obi Moneulo. Period.

FWIW, he wore the orange jacket as a tribute to Kurt Budke, who used to regularly sport the orange jacket look.

He did the same last year right after the plane crash.

As for his "antics", I tend to prefer a more stoic approach.

As to the "boo" thing, I didn't see it because I was at the game last night.

Maybe this is what Travis was saying:

I don't disagree. I was just speaking on those two situations independently. I definitely think they compare, but you are right, Ford acts like that WAY more often than Capel ever did.

I was there too and saw it. It was pretty dumb, but in my opinion not much different than a whole lot of other things that coaches say to officials. Would you rather be boo'd, or be told "that was pathetic", or "you guys are terrible", and all of the other "not nice" things that I have seen coaches yell at officials.

I will however freely admit that I dont particularly care for the way Coach Ford carries himself on the sidelines at times. I dont think he works officials very well, you cant act like a pissed off little kid and expect to get any favor.

That pretty much sums it up for us

"Use your words, Travis. Be a big boy."

Exactly! T-Bone.....Mike Holder.....Napoleon Ford.....See the resemblance???

Jeff, there are lots of coaches who are excessively animated on the sidelines but this is the first time I've ever heard of a coach booing a call of an official. It's childish and immature.

Maybe he learned from the Queen???!!!

How do you see no correlation? Both are things that 99% of other coaches don't do, that were done to show-up an official. Both were pretty stupid/immature things to do. Both coaches were/are fairly young.

It's nearly exactly the same thing, IMO.

Showing up an official (from a coach) should be a calculated act to make a point. Rolling the ball to an official takes thought (from how I read it here; I didn't see it happen). Yelling actual words at an official takes thought. Booing is the most basic emotional response to a negative call. A coach should be above that.

Right before their game I was telling my wife what an idiot and a baby he was. I was crossing my arms and stomping around with my hands waving at the officials. You know, you've seen it. Of course, she thought I was being a little harsh. Nope. He is an idiot! He doesn't just complain about calls he pouts about calls.

I promise they won't care. I was at the OU/OSU game in GIA and I could not believed the crowd boo'd every single call that was against them, even if they had to know it was the correct call!

That's what they were doing last night, even when the officials were doing everything they could for them short of lobbing the ball up to them for alley-oop baskets. As I said in another thread, even the announcers were mocking them for it.

well, baby though he may be ... he has his team playing pretty well at the moment. He obviously does some things right.

That's because the whole world is against them. It's called an inferiority complex! :ez-roll:

Wait.

Are you saying that a home crowd booed when calls went against their team?!

Are you serious? Booed the refs? When calls went against their team?

I'm shocked. Shocked and appalled. I've never heard of such a thing.

I mean, we all know that home crowds generally politely applaud the refs when they make a "correct call" that goes against the home team.
