As embarrassing as this is I will say the only bright side is this dang basketball team has some fire and unity. I've been hearing all summer how they are a family and really bonding. Sounds like it. Taking it a little too far. LOL.

You mean you don't think they may be problem kids now that this has happened. I've heard your logic on such things before. I don't think that's the case with them, but I've seen your opinion on other things that didn't even get to that level.

Exactly that is grade school type stuff, you wouldn't expect it from college student athletes.
 
Grade school stuff would be something like ditching class. A player needing medical treatment after a fight is a little bit more serious. Now if you're intimating he is immature, yes, he is immature, but he's lucky this did not explode into something more consequential. At best, his judgment stinks.

Their are a whole bunch of little things that are adding up during the Self tenure at KU. It seemed as if He was going to be a disciplinarian after Giddens got shanked, but little things keep adding up. Now we have a glass house, with the little incidents with Cannon, Early, Patillo, and Maze. But still it is not to the magnitude of what issues have happened at KU.

I agree with you to a point but I think it goes a little far to act as if things have built up. There really haven't been too many incidents. I mean kids will be kids and they will get in trouble. I did when I was 19 and I was a pretty good kid.

The thing that bothers me is you would think both Self and Mangino would have heard rumblings of these things building up. The other students sounded like they had heard of it and like it had been building for some time. Self and Mangino should have nipped it in the bud from the beginning.

Either way it sounds like it's over and it shouldn't happen again. It is a black eye for the university and the team but you also have to move on. Of course that is the opinion of a KU fan. :)

Absolutely! All these pictures in this thread show the KU guys sitting around with backpacks on. These are some bookworms that can play some ball!!!! :ez-laugh:

Dirty what are these "whole bunch of issues"? They happen everywhere. As you said OU has had it share. Doesn't mean Capel isn't a disciplinarian.
Heck, I truly believe Mangino is a strict disciplinarian and he's had more problems than KU and OU hoops combined.

What exactly are all these issues? Morris shooting the BB gun was stupid and childish. This is stupid as well. But these are kids being kids type stuff that there is no excuse for but these aren't criminal type stuff like a lot of schools have.
As a KU fan I want to have the absolute best teams that also represent themselves well. I think for the most part KU does and I'm perfectly happy with Coach Self in this area.

You guys stop we are keeping the KU hall monitor up all night defending his team. His job is to monitor this website 24/7 and defend all comments regarding KU. I am sure he has better things to do with his time than to stock us 24/7.
