First of all let me say you should always take the Gatorade Player of the Year from your own state, especially if you have lots of scholarships to give. The guy is a really nice player and should help OU win games for 3-4 years.

As for the Boddicker comparison, both about 6'7'' and make their living behind the 3pt line. Boddicker averaged right around 8 points and 4.5 rebounds a game for 3 years at Texas. He basically made a living on pick and pops using his size and outstanding 3pt shooting ability to stretch defenses.

After watching the videos and reading about his game I couldn't help but think of Boddicker in terms of style and expected contribution. Of course, Neal may end up putting a more complete game together and be better than that, but with his size and shooting range he seems like a good fit to have a Boddicker type of role and career at OU.

I believe those highlights were from his Jr. year and grace said he had developed a nice inside game this year.

Check that the first was from his Jr year, last 2 were from this year I believe.

Thanks... im sure Boddicker scored around the rim in high school too. I see the real value of Neal being his shooting ability.

Me too, I just feel real good about the sign! I agree also about taking the Gatorade POY from your own state is a must as well.

If he can contribute and not **** up off the court then Im glad to have him.

That would be fantastic if he was that type of player. Watching Neal in the video, he looks and moves like Conner Teahan, who was the 2007 Missouri POY.

Wasn't Boddicker bigger than 6-7. I thought he was like 6-10.

Either way, I am glad Neal is a Sooner.

4.1 GPA...... Nice. At least we know the kid has a good head on his shoulders.

yep thats good to see. However, nowadays its pretty easy to get about a 4 point. Atleast at yukon, an ap class is worth 5 points instead of 4.5

i played AAU against Boddicker in the dfw area. he was an intersting collegiate player. he was listed at 6ft9 and his last 2 years he really became quite lethal from 3. he did have a nice inside game but for whatever reason (not sure if it's him, Barnes, team, etc.) he gravitated outward. keep in mind they also had that other blonde haired dude who was the true Center on those teams as well as Thomas and PJ whatever.

one thing i remember was that Boddicker was a pretty big dude, very wide and had a big ol' ass and hips. i'm not sure if Neal is quite there now.

nonetheless i would love for Neal to become a Boddicker, b/c THAT guy seemed like he was at UT nailing 3's for about 6 years.

is RObbie Hummel from Purdue a decent comparison for Neal? i dont know.

Tyler Neal reminds me of the type of big guys that Northern Iowa killed KU with. They were good not great athletes, they played their butt off, they shot the ball well from outside, and they were really mobile offensively and defensively.

and smart.

He really reminds me of the type of players they get at Butler- not great athletes, but smart, skilled players that know their roles and do them well while letting others do what they do too. This is the kind of glue guy OU definitely needs more of.
