2/21/2016: Updated 1,000 point career scoring list.

With the road victory at West Virginia, Buddy Hield surpassed 2,000 career points with his game-high 29. He is the sixth Sooner in history to hit the 2,000 point mark. Buddy moved into the top 5 of OU’s all-time scoring chart as his 2,026 points, passing Stacey King (2,008) into fifth.

If we have a good post season (reach conference tourney finals and elite 8 in NCAA), Buddy just needs to maintain his season average to end up #2 in school history.

Woodard will end up in the top 10 in school history as well.

Always nice to see my friend Joe King on this list. Looks like he and Lester Lane are the only ones from the '50s, when they played a lot fewer games. I see him every Thursday at the Norman Rotary Club. I've heard him tell stories through the years about games against KU and Wilt Chamberlain. Such a great guy.

It's amazing what Wayman did in only three years.

How about Harvey Grant in two years? Wayman is more amazing but Harvey is 15th in two years. Every player in front of him played longer. A little recent perspective might be Blake Griffin at 21st. Blake was amazing yet Harvey out scored him by over 100 points.

yep assuming 10 more games this year and 30 next year he needs 16 a game to pass Eduardo. He should do that as the man next year.

That's all I need to know to evaluate this particular stat. No offense to Jordan Woodard.

How many of those guys started every game for 4 years like Jordan will have barring injury? That's the flaw in the stat, but amazing that he could start every game of his career

Yeah, that was kind of what I was getting at. Seems under Tubbs and Sampson, OU had a TON of JUCO's that only played 2 years, and a lot of the younger guys didn't start all 4 years. It shouldn't be as uncommon as it's been at OU, but with Woodard and Cousins ending up where they will, I think it shows just how uncommon it has been.

My uncle played for OU in the 50's, and played against Wilt too.

Blake Griffins stats are light because he missed a few games and was banged up his first year... Probably could of been quite a bit better and would of passed Tisdale if he stayed 4 years.

Hield missed 8 games as a freshman so that kind of hurts his numbers right now too. He would of probably had 50 to 100 more points in those 8 missed games.

No way. Not just no way but hell no, no way.

Wayman played on teams that averaged close to 100 points per game and his average over 3 years was 25.8.

In that stat above, Wayman had another 1400 points more than BG and BG's total is just over 1200. Double BG's output if he stays 4 years and it's still lower than Wayman's. Close but no cigar.

What Wayman did will never be matched at OU. Never. it will be like the 47 game winning streak -- stand for generations.

If Blake stayed all 4 years he could have probably eclipsed what Wayman did in 3. But then again he would have had maybe 40 more games than Wayman did. I am also assuming that as a Jr and Sr, his number go up from when he was a Freshman and Sophomore. So you go by the 794 he scored as a sophomore, we can say he probably gets 800 to 850 each year as a jr and sr. That puts him at around 1650 plus his 1278 and he ends up just over 2925. So he has 250 more points, but again in 35-40 more games.

Maybe so thanks to the additional games.

I'll attribute it to pace of play. ;)
