You are kind of ignoring the reasons that they provided for low scoring. Not in my opinion. The powers that be want to see more scoring. End of story.

Well that's at odds with moving the 3 point line back 2 years ago.
I believe the new rules changes are intended to bring back the skill of the game and minimize the physicality.

Learn to debate or discuss without ascribing words that were never actually stated or implied: "dirty," "racially insensitive." Can you discuss without twisting words or meanings?
Again I ask, was it not the WV style of play that the rules changes were designed to overcome?
1. The new rules were very deliberately put in place to curtail the type of play that had been adopted by several teams. My opinion, which I did not state, is that these teams were attempting to overcome deficiencies in talent by negating the effect of talent and good coaching. The new rules were put in place to help increase scoring and tempo in women's basketball. The hope is that this will help make women's basketball more interesting to watch and bring in more viewers. Let's be honest - it's all about the money. They we're not put in place to stop the way certain teams play in terms of their style of play. Otherwise, you would have heard an uproar about how unfair it is to be adding new rules that are intended to affect certain teams' styles of play.
I apologize sybarite if you felt like I was attacking you or calling you racist or anything of the like. That was not my intention. I just feel like the Big 12 is a strong conference and we should be happy for the success of the other teams. The stronger they are - the more prepared for the NCAA tournament we will be. I'm pretty sure the Sooner ladies would rather make it to the Final Four of the NCAA's than win the Big 12. I just don't like badmouthing the other Big 12 schools because I know that once the Big 12 season is over and the NCAA tournament begins - I will be cheering on ALL of the Big 12 schools.
I'm sorry but calling young women "thuggy" is just wrong - point.blank.period. The way you associate the word was not the way it was being used - What are the similarities between female college athletes and Marlon Brando, motorcycles, and white supremacists? If that's what you think of when you think of "thug" then you would have to agree that WV is not "thuggy"
The bottom line is that calling these young women negative names of ANY kind is unwarranted and shows poor character.
I guess we will just have to agree to disagree.
First, I didn't use the word. I DID state what I associated with the word. We don't have to agree to anything.
And, I think you owe AustinTXSooner an apology.
If you ACTUALLY read what I wrote, you would see I said that in ANOTHER thread the term "thuggy" was used. I didn't just pull it out of thin air...
In ESPU: West Virginia
Stringmusic : "WVU was awfully "thuggy"
And I have heard fans and seen posts online where people have used the term "dirty" in reference to the West Virginia women's team. To say that they are "mugging" their way to a victories and that "they may not even win a game" with the new rule changes is just plain silly.
I didn't direct anything negatively towards AustinTXSooner so there isn't a need to apologize.
Let's honestly not turn this into a big thing. Debate is good but I hate blog/forum arguments.
Was only trying to make the point that it wrong to use derogatory terms in reference to young ladies.
