Voted Terry Evans. I have a feeling Buzz is coming to Norman though. I have no inside information but this may be one of those 'knew it was coming' obvious hires. It just makes too much sense. My wish list goes:

1. Terry Evans - Billy Ball 2. Terry can coach like Tubbs.
2. Buzz - the safe obvious one
3. Mike Anderson - the surprise awesome hire! There's little doubt Sooner fans would pack the LNC. Joe opens up the checkbook.
4. Bruce Pearl - Sooners are willing to take on Pearl's baggage to nab one of nations best for the long haul. Again Sooner fans will show up for Pearl.

I would be one happy camper if EITHER of these guys come to Norman. I think that's a b@d@ss list if I do say so myself.

I disagree that we know the candidates. Joe C has proven that he digs deeper than we do. Nobody talked about Capel being candidate, and we were all caught off guard with that, and before that, nobody talked about Bob Stoops being in the running.

He's 1 for 2.

Everyone knew Bob Stoops was a possibility. And Capel is not here.

I hope Joe, Boren, the Regents and Consulting company don't second guess the obvious choices for a chance at another risk hire.

I live in Tennessee, but an avid Oklahoma fan because I was raised in Eufaula and went to school at UCO...and I LOVE Pearl, but OU does not need a coach who lies and can't follow rules. He is a great coach and I loved watching his teams play and his passion for the game. I will add I am NOT a Pat fan nor do I ever cheer for the Lady Vols...but I have always enjoyed the guys!

Everyone knew Bob Stoops was a possibility.

I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that not very many people thought Stoops was a possibility. It came out of left field for most. Almost everyone thought Jim Donnan was the shoe-in.

That was also in 1999... college sports news via internet has changes a lot in the last 12 years.

We are much more connected now.

No doubt about it. To say that everyone knew Bob was a candidate at the time is incorrect, though. In fact, most were not happy with the hire.

That said, we were all shocked by the Capel hire. I won't be surprised if the next one comes out of left field.

Buzz and Billy Clyde give us the best chance of a quick return to the top.
Anyone else is a gamble.

I think Gregg Marshall and Cuanzo Martin will also be on Joe's radar.

I was very happy with the hire. He didn't have head coaching experience but his defenses at KSU were awesome and his impact on Florida's program was evident.

I was totally shocked with the Capel hire. I was even more shocked when I heard the small amount of cash we paid to get an unproven coach who didn't have good pedigree of coaching (All ex-Dukie's are failures; his dad was a poor coach).

I am sure glad you're not picking our next Coach that guy isn't as good as Capel.

+1

Scott Drew is arguably the worst coach in the history of big 12 basketball.

Tony Barone, Harry Miller, and Ricardo Patton are his main competition.

Capel is a step above Drew...but Drew is light years better as a recruiter.

I also voted for Terry.

To me, thats the obvious choice. He wants the job. He is a Sooner. He would be happy being OU's coach the next 20 years.

Can you say all of those things about any of the other candidates?

For once, I agree with you.

well of course he would. If I had an IQ of 80 I would certainly yearn for a CEO job that paid millions and there's no darn way I'd ever leave.

:D So you're saying Evans has an 80 IQ?
