What do you see as OU's weakness on this team?

I think the biggest weakness is lack of a three point shooter off the bench. I am hopeful that Booker will be able to do that in conference play. If he can't do it this year, I hope he can do it next year.

I was very please with Walker's game last night. I am also pleased with Bennett and Lattin as back up post players. I am not scared when either of those guys is playing. Last year, I was a bit worried when Bennett had to play.

I'd probably say things of concern would be:

1. Production from the bench. As you said, we need Booker to at least be as good as he was last year. Gotta be healthy.

2. Woodard's shot. He knocked down some shots last year. This year he can't hit a thing.

3. A true go to guy in crunch time when we really need a basket in a tight game. Thomas is evolving into that guy possibly?

I feel like OU has several. Cousins, Thomas and Hield are all capable. Spangler is leading the team in field goal percentage. Woodard can get to the line if nobody else can hit a shot.

I get what you are saying but I am not sure I don't prefer the balanced scoring.

Our bench is my concern. Last night the refs let them play. Especially in the first half. Spangler and Thomas had zero fouls on them so Kruger just substituted to keep them fresh. I know people gripe about officiating in every game thread, but it was to our advantage that they let them play last night (both teams). I thought it was a well officiated game. We will get into a game where it's a foul-a-thon.

We only played with 3 subs last night: Walker, Booker, and Lattin.

I love our starting 5. I wish Woodard would find his outside shot, but he is doing everything else well (assists, few turnovers, defense, etc.). Thomas is really smooth inside. Ryan hustles his butt off and is smart. Buddy is just Buddy.... which is a good thing. Cousins has probably been our best player this year. His defense just amazes me. Our guards are rebounding well.

The weaknesses are coaching and post-play.... Thomas and Spangler aren't very good in the paint, get killed on the boards, and aren't very versatile.

OU is also led by a weak coaching staff... Lon Kruger couldn't draw up a play if his life depended on it. He lacks the experience and knowledge of the game to lead a top program.

Turnovers.

OU plays a little too much individual and two-man game for me. Would like to see a few more set plays, but basketball is changing, moving away from sets for the most part.

It's a "go-make-a-play" mantra, which seems be echoing down from the NBA, to college and even into HS. And, to that end, Cousins, Hield and Woodard - and maybe even Thomas, can go get their own shot. Seems to be one of those double-edged swords - great when it works, but not so great when it doesn't.

If OU can stay away from turnovers and, more importantly, I believe have more assists than TO they will win a bunch of games.

Agree! Really need Booker to play better soon. Walker seems to be getting better and better. Lattin is young and Bennent just isn't very capable. Buford being eligible would have been huge.

Last night Hield made a very nice move off the dribble and made an intermediate range jumper. He needs to make that shot part of his repertoire. I also noticed over the last two games that his outside shot has a much higher chance of going in when he first sets his feet squarely and relies on rhythm. There are shooters who can make shots off balance with regularity but Buddy really isn't one of them thus he needs to be more selective when it comes to taking his perimeter shot.

Everyone seems to agree it is bench production. It sure would be nice to have Buford. That would give OU three potential scorers and two bigs.

My take on Woodard is he will finish the season with a much more respectable shooting percentage. Therefore, he is going to shoot much better in the second half of the season.

Bench play, we have to stay out of foul trouble. Really need Lattin to keep improving and Booker to just be an average bench contributor.

Defending a athletic/fast point guard. That will destroy our very good team defense.

I like how at that time stating that Vince Young was a bust meant you didn't know your sports, now that's funny!
