What if OSU Hired ... Kelvin Sampson?

The NCAA 5-year “Show Cause Order” for Coach Sampson has expired. The punishment is over and any NCAA institution is free to hire Kelvin without penalty. Kelvin is 58 years old.

There is no recruiting in the NBA, and my guess is that Kelvin does not miss the recruiting aspect of a college job. However, I bet Kelvin misses being the head coach of a team. Maybe Kelvin will get an NBA head coaching job soon.

In any event, I do NOT want to see him coaching in Stillwater. For several reasons, I cannot see it happening.

Kelvin may be basketball's equivalent to Bill Snyder. He can take whatever nobody else seems to want and find a way to compete with the best. I don't want to play against Kelvin.

Indiana got blasted by Purdue today and are not ranked. Wonder if the powers that be in Bloomington are wondering if they should have thrown Kelvin under the bus rather than help him defend himself.

No way Kelvin has an unranked team at Indiana after 5 or 6 years.

He would be if he had to deal with the probation brought on by.......Kelvin Sampson.I'm fairly certain that SHOW CAUSE or not that sorry ,lying ,cheating POS will never be a college HC again.

WT will be here for you very soon..... LOL

He's probably going to need to wait until his blood pressure lowers a bit before typing ;).

Seriously, I don't see Kelvin having any interest in coaching college again. He's going to get a head coaching position in the NBA...as early as next season.

The guy I'm worried OSU will try to get is the Wichita State coach (Marshall). They'll open the vault for him, but I'm not sure he'll want that job. I'm not saying this as an OU fan, I'm saying it because most seasoned coaches aren't going to leave their schools to come play for a booster. Too much nonsense, drama, and unnecessary aggravation altogether.

Boone would have to make another donation, $10 million to Ford plus have to give the new coach a big and long contract to come, and they aren't selling any tickets.

I will just be happy to see T-Butt Pickens have to pay a bunch of money for his interference.

... I like Kelvin.

I love KS. ...

I would cry

Yeah, that would be a sad day.

I’m with you guys. I wish Kelvin the very best. I wish him continued success, but somewhere other than Stillwater. I really don’t know why this topic jumped into my mind. Given where things are today, the odds are increasing that Travis Ford will depart Stillwater sometime soon. The odds are extremely small that Kelvin would end up at OSU ... Thank goodness.

That would be ironic as hell as bad as Eddie Sutton wanted to bring down Kelvin Sampson. Basically Kelvin was doing things wrong that every coach does today.

You cannot possibly be serious?

NOTHING going on at IU right now has anything to do with Kelvin or any probation. Period.

I think Kelvin is done with the college game. Like has been mentioned above, he is probably in line to get an NBA head coaching job pretty soon. I also don't think he likes osu, and what they (Eddie) tried to put him thru. If he wanted a college job, he'd find something different from that job. And osu probably wouldn't take a chance on him.

But if he somehow ended up there, like play, I would probably cry. A lot.

I also don't think OSU would ever hire an ex-OU coach. They'd rather lose a lot than hire a "Gooner."
